SEN just said the club is assessing Saad’s hamstring injury from Thursday night, first I have heard of that. FML
Saad sat the last 10-12 minutes. Voss mentioned it in his post match presser. Said it was precautionary but so was Gov the week before. 10 days to recovery but will hardly be a surprise if he misses.

My Osteo says never ever sleep on your stomach.

Tho is becoming a bit of a BF poster injury thread but I can agree re dangers of sleeping on your stomach. I’ve had lower back issues ever since injuring at the gym. Only to realise it exacerbates overnight if I’ve slept on my stomach (or side for that matter). As annoying as it is at times to force myself to sleep on my back, it has really reduced the lower back pain.

Not sure if trimming the meniscus is a given with ACL repairs. I have a reco back in 1988, meniscus was left untouched until it tore in 2013. It's been downhill since then, looking at a replacement in the next few years.
Tore my ACL 2 months ago. They don't operate anymore at all if you're not an elite athlete or over 24.

I think they will monitor Russell’s team throughout the season before making any changes, they had a shake up last summer in that area, i would be surprised if they moved him on 5 months later.

On the upside if he is paid as much as they say, and we get someone for less, the club will have more $ for other coaches.

I am trying not to think too much about this situation because I doubt anything changes in the short term, but I would appreciate a little more transparency on the timelines. Where are Cunners and Marchy atm? Yep both injury prone, know that. Would still like an idea of their likely return

I thinks that’s spot on. Most of us aren’t close enough to know if AR is doing a good job or not - from the outside looking in it’s easy to think he isn’t - but I trust Cook would be all over it. He doesn’t suffer fools. He would have set KPIs that if not met will not bode well for AR. If there’s a problem it will be likely the change will come at seasons end but I’m sure it’s being discussed. All will be revealed in due course.

For me the injury malaise is also as much about list management as injury. You can’t have 3 out of 4 high half forwards (Cunners, Martin, Philp) on the list perpetually injured. Ditto for third defenders (Gov, Marchy). A call should have been made last year to delist Cunners and Marchy and target replacements in the off season. The cost of the inaction is now being borne out with our lack of options.

Didn’t finish the game. Voss called it “tightness”. Every time we have had a player suffer “tightness” (what a piece of bullshit by them really) we end up losing them. Martin- tightness. Owies- tightness. Cuners - tightness. It goes on.

Wish they’d stop with the lying and half truths. Corkie for mcg my arse.

My best bet is Saad misses 3.

So you want Voss to say "he'll miss 3 weeks"?

I want him to say “he’s probably done a hamstring and very unlikely to play next week.” Not “he had tightness and came off as a precaution.”
What if he doesn't know? What's your script for the coach then?

Might be bit of a difference with Martin, DC, Owies and Gov (& Marchy) as they all have a history of repeated soft tissue (and structural/impact/other) injuries. Saad’s been incredibly durable across his career.

Time to try someone other than Russell. He hasn’t succeeded. No one could do worse. He hasn’t rejuvenated a single player experiencing repeat soft tissue injuries (Martin, McGovern, Philp, Cuners, Owies).

He has no success stories. Some would say Charlie. But it seems Charlie was more corrective surgery rather than anything Russell did.

The volume of stress related injuries at the club is hopeless.

That he said in a podcast this year he ‘still does pretty much the same things’ as he’s always done regarding conditioning is very alarming.

His great wisdom now is having the riskier players do less load. And take longer off after injury. Hasn’t worked.

Pies made a change and it brought massive benefits to them.

Time to give someone else a go. Can’t be any worse.
YES! 100% - Its not personal. Russell's tenure at Carlton has been a complete failure. Must be a hell of a nice guy to have kept his job so long because his results stink.

I heard the same comment re: "doing the same things" and just shook my head.

It hasn't worked out. Time to change it up.

For me to believe he has no idea I would have to believe that a guy who has been around football for 30 years has never seen a stack of guys come off with “tightness” before. I would have to believe he and the physios see this as such an incredibly unusual phenom that they are just mystified. “This is a really strange one. Haven’t seen this before so will have to get it assessed really.

Like for me to accept it all with a straight face, and provide the script you’re asking me to provide, would require me to suspend disbelief.

But I won’t play that stupid ****ing game. Because anyone who has been anywhere near a footy ground knows that if a guy comes off with tightness, unless it is cramp 95/100 misses at least one week (when there’s no tear on scan) or more (if there is).

So the script I would give would be “look any time a guy comes off with hamstring tightness is a bad sign and usually miss one or more weeks. Fingers crossed it’s the rare case that that doesn’t happen. But let’s be honest and say that’s unlikely.”

Saad is a machine, I swear he always seems to be under an injury cloud then just bobs up ready to play.
I wonder how hard playing during Ramadan is for him. I simply wouldn't know and don't recall an AFL player talk openly about the subject. I'd imagine it's not easy at all.
