Given the 2s play Saturday (after the main game Friday night), if all the "test" players get up, and our main game sub isn't used, we could field as many as 19 listed players in the VFL side this week! Can't remember the last time we were anywhere near that.

Injury list getting smaller and smaller.

Subs this year have certainly be used as a tactical move, can’t see teams holding back anymore provided there’s no injuries…

Even if that sub plays a qtr and a half, they could still top up their minutes on Saturday

That's a good point.
AFL and VFL fixtures should try to be unaligned to maximise ('ken strongly dislike this American spell check correction that interferes with the Queens Kings english) game time for all fringe players.

Being that afl.com.au publishes their injury report on a Tuesday arvo, the club should put out theirs before then, just for clarity & 1st hand info.

Interesting if DC, Martin & Marchy play VFL this week plus Mots &/or Owies (prefer seniors).
Other way around. The AFL website should be waiting for clubs to release their own before sending out a mass update.

It's crazy they don't, so much of it is guesswork.

Is it really that hard for the club to update us by the end of a work day Tuesday?

Like is it that hard? They’re happy to give Riley Beveridge intell every week (he is obviously connected as he always does our reports).

CFC website not updated yet (usually on a Wednesday).

AFL site has this (but I give it less credence):

Interesting to see Marchy, Cuners and Martin all a "Test" for this week, as is Owies, which was expected.

Only other question I had from the WCE game was Cripps looking very sore right in the last minute or so of the match - but camera never panned back to him. Haven't heard anything since, so assume he is ok.
Club probably don't know a lot either. Think he said he would stay in WA till Monday so probably only got back to the club today.

AFL website must have been updated because it’s now saying the “injured calf trio” Martin, Marchbank and Cuningham are 2 to 3 weeks away. Quote was from Riley Beveridge who usually gets good mail on the Blues.

Yep, some normality restored with that update to our expectations concerning the trio.

Based on those timelines by the time they next play any form of football Martin would have missed 10 games, Cunners 8 games and Marchy 12 games. Each case was originally reported as calf tightness first game back after a long lay off. I’d imagine all 3 are on “personalised training plans” so clearly they have not worked.

IMO having these guys in the squad is akin to playing with 3 less list spots than the rest of the league. Personally I’d put Martin in the inactive list now and send him overseas for treatment something that should have been done earlier given his history of calf muscle injuries. He’s contracted next year so he’s hard to move as he has no trade value. This would allow us to take someone in the MSD.

The other two are out of contract at the end of the year so obviously they don’t have time on their side and will want to continue to push for selection this season. IMO this season has been the final straw for these two. They cannot be relied upon to be available for the majority of a season and break down far too easily and regularly. Neither should be offered contracts next year.

Marchbank is more easily covered than Martin or Cuningham (with the development/acquisition of Kemp/Cimcotta and Cowan) - the latter two always injured are particularly frustrating as they would fit perfectly into the side - adding factor X into teh forward line - Martin is also one of the best-contested ball players at the Club a rare attribute for a forward.
