***************************************************

Just like to thank Aphrodite and the other Carlton mods who started the Bluemours NON Discussion Thread and who have kept it free of chat over the past few years.

It helps so much when you just don't have the time to read through this thread, cheers and great job.

How?
All we're doing is questioning the validity of his posts.
As someone else said, it's not as if Austin and his list management team are keeping LOB in the loop on what is going on.
Do you seriously think Austin sits down with LOB and discusses trade targets?

Soapy actually gets info via other means.

I would remind some posters here that this has been a season like no other. Austin certainly would not be feeding LOB, but aside from other contacts, many players would be more over discussions of movements. The majority of AFL players are still in or around their respective hubs. We had a post above of a Qld resident seeing some of the boys out and about. We know from previous reports that our captains and others, such as Eddie have been involved in discussions
with prospective trades. Do you not think that there would be an abnormal flow of info back and forward among the groups. Friendships from underage days
often remain, plenty are interacting, and plenty are privvy to degrees of info.

That's the thing, I'm sure there are plenty of people who are privy to varying degrees of information through their associations with people at football clubs.
Every person you talk to from within a club presents things with their own biases attached and from their own perspective. I don't know that there's much when associated with footy that can be presented as 100% factual.

For that reason, on the occasions that I do hear something I keep it to myself. Sometimes you will hear two differing stories from individuals involved at a club about the same situation. Nobody can guarantee that the information that gets passed onto them is 100% right all the time.

We all know who Soapys contact is at the club, but i'd be amazed if he's getting this much list management info from LOB.
I'd be taking what he is saying with a grain of salt.
Ummm, if his source was LOB, why the **** would he make the information public here after revealing he was related to him? Would be throwing the kid under a bus while he was trying to establish himself at the club.

Pretty sure the players would not know some of the information being passed on, reckon there are other sources at play. Fair chance you would not spend time mixing with people at the club your relative plays at and you have more than a passing interest in, and not make any connections with other people that would come across information they were willing to share.

Reckon you are off the mark here

Im hearing we have some interest in Oleg Markov also.

Probably a Plan B if Saad doesn’t happen?

I like Markov.
He’s a hard runner and - from what I’ve seen - doesn’t butcher the ball.
In my opinion would be Cottrell with better disposal and feel for the game.
Would all come down to cost (both assets and salary).

If I felt you were being unfairly targeted I would pass comment in support

You have made multiple comments now regarding LOB and or Austin sharing information, not sure why that is but I find it poor.

Do you think it's possible that Soap may have formed other bonds with people at the club, that may provide him with some information?

Of course it's possible... but unlikely since the info he gives is pretty much everything we have already heard.

The point of shaking down some of these trees is that they will open up high-value opportunities, particularly at GWS.
Yes, question probably ask. But sometimes shaking the trees sometimes doesn't work. Refer to Josh Kelly 2 years ago. Or even Look at Dylan Shiel/Cogs the previous years. If a quality footballer wants to be a part of our side why be so dismissive?

Saad assists with our need for pace and overlap. He helps the situation more than Viney.
There is a room for both, just because we require a need in one area doesn't mean the high draft picks can't be depth or develop in reserves side.

Great, we've got an understudy to Ed, as well an enormous number of inside or inside-leaning midfield options. We need outside-leaning mids.

That ain't Viney.

You can't say for sure that Philip will be a best 22 in the side. It is fine to be optimistic about it, still not a reason in not acquiring Viney if it came to be. Cool, we sign Williams as a FA who can bring that outside pace.

If we have a competent football department, Dow and Kemp will likely be in the mix for R1 next year. Dow apparently had knee issues, and they've been cautious with Kemp specifically for this reason. Viney is likely a waste of money in the context of our best 30 players. Geelong can have him.

You don't know how Dow and Kemp will develop or will they be best 30 R1 next year. Dow can still have knee issues or Kemp can't find his feet in his first full afl year. This is just guess work.

Only in the sense of defensive work rate. We need faster and/or fitter players. From where I'm sitting, we've pushed 'fitter' to the nth degree, so pace with sufficient endurance (Saad) or pace with great endurance (Williams, O'Brien) better suits us than anything Viney can produce.

He's an undersized contested ball winner who sprays his disposal because he's easily pressured while disposing. Even when he gets a clean run at it, he doesn't do much with it.
Like I said, no reason why we can't entertain services from Saad and Viney. I think you are overselling how bad Viney's ball useage is.

You’re right.

He’s only worth $14 million dollars.

He makes his own rules.
Parochialism aside, he's been a damn good operator. He's been difficult to deal with because he's relentless in extracting all he can for his club; as you'd expect. I applauded SOS for doing likewise.

I thought that the post that someone posted from the main board was measured and quite reasonable. Like all rumours it may or may not come to pass.

My suspicion is that people's reactions toward it are governed by people's reactions to the original poster.

Unfortunately, when posters disagree with others opinion, they use personal attacks as a form of defence or in some cases, when there is 2 or more ‘friends’, a form of bullying. Most wouldn’t do that face to face. You try to learn to live with it but sometimes and as a shame, it drives the wrong posters away.

Isn't that similar to most ITK's

When information came out that Papley wanted to come to Carlton, most of the ITK's posted it

Many suggested it would get done

Yet it didn't happen

Things changes

As an understudy to Ed... feel free to be more condescending when you're being vastly less obtuse.

It's a question of timing. Murphy went down with a major shoulder injury in his first season. Then wound up with syndesmosis issues for 18 months in another stretch.

It all comes back to the original point I was disputing, which was the fact that you were questioning why a player who has missed more than 50% of his team's games over the course of his career would be described as injury prone. I think that would quite comfortably qualify him as being injury prone

Not sure why you need to bring up contracts etc when I was simply pointing out that Murphy had actually been quite durable up to the point of his career Crouch has reached. The syndesmosis injury happened at a later stage. Why did you so greatly exaggerate the timeframe of that injury btw? He suffered it in round 10 2016, then was back playing fantastic football in round 1 2017

Bold strategy by North telling Ben Brown to leave. I wonder if it’s a Lachie Henderson arrangement where a deal has been agreed to in principle or a Jake Stringer situation where they give up all leverage and are forced to take whatever scraps they can get.

They seem to be where we were 4 or so years ago. A massive rebuild about to take shape.

I read it, a number of times. Looking forward to further contributions from you and others about Carlton relation stuff (this is not sarcasm). Keep chatting.
All good. Will get back to our once mighty footy club again.

I’ve said before we desperately need two seasoned onballers as our first priority.

Williams is a great fit. Graham would fit right in. Hoping he’s the second..

So are you and some other posters here saying that he has two independent sources within one football club?

He has been an appalling operator. A disaster for *. If he wasn't Mark Casey's pal he would have been out of his hobby job with his hobby skillset many years ago.
