Thats a horrific take, degoey isn't even the best in the comp at his position, let alone the best 'matchwinner' in the comp. If you think Oliver isn't any good then you've got issues. Like serious issues. Can understand not wanting him for fit or cost but if you think he's not even a two's player theres something seriously wrong with your ability to judge football.
Horrific???? Or maybe I just have an opinion different to yours?

I think DeGoey is the best player in the comp. if that means I have “serious issues”, so be it I guess.

If Oliver (or Curnow, or Cripps) is kicking inside forward 50, you're not doing it right, not when you've got players like Martin, Williamson, SPS, Kennedy, Setterfield, Newnes or Murphy in the same team.

Players aren't meant to be generalists, and those that are tend toward getting filtered out for specialists in preferred areas. If we get Oliver and use his kicking, it would be the wrong way to use him.

Why do people rate Murphy a good kick? :poo:

Trust me, TheCoach16's 'issues' run far deeper than thinking DeGoey is the best player in the AFL.

Saad not worth picking 7, let alone pick 7 + a player.

Some of you need to stop listening to the * cheer squad in the media.

I don’t think Oliver is a two’s player either to be fair. Clearly belongs in the firsts.

The Saad trade will play out like this, pick 7 to Essendon a round 2 (maybe 3) going back to Carlton.

Cats need young talent I doubt they will trade for 7. They don't have a reason too, this draft is messed up because none of the Victorian Kids have been playing, so you would think they would prefer to have 2 cracks at a round 1 rather than taking the risk of having a crack at 1.

As for Carlton trading 7, it is a good thing for the same reason, you could end up getting a Blaine Boekhurst or Josh Bootsma. Unless you look interstate, then you run the risk of them wanting to go home in a few years.

My god can you imagine us poaching a gun player from Essendon AND Collingwood in the same off-season??

Trade period would be fireworks and the shitposting on BigFooty would be insane.

I'm ready to goto war gangs of New York Style (from behind the keyboard)

Pick 7 + Walsh/C Curnow. Just your normal, sane asking price for an out-of-contract 26 year old.

I think the equivalent counter offer would be Rhys Palmer and a karaoke night with Sticks...

For anyone talking Saad Trade, splitting picks etc, it won't happen.

What will happen IMO is blues will trade 7 and get back a a 2nd or 3rd round pick, unless there is a player trade like a Silvagni or Casboult

That is clearly your opinion and it’s not reflective of what most supporters think is fair.

All I can say is thank god you are not doing the deal for us.

What Saad or any player is worth in basic theory and what we decide to pay in a trade may be quite different. And frankly the way I look at it is that other than for curiosity its none of my business. All I want is to win and to be happy about the way my team goes about it and in these times with so much social responsibilty to the fore in our consciousness, with decent citizens pulling on the jumper.

I honestly am very reluctant to part with our first round pick in 2021, unless we are assured we are getting a top 25 player (ish) player back in return..

I do realize the club is having a fair crack at it and trying to bring in as much established talent as possible, I still think we need to try keep our first pick next year in the bank, if only as collateral for any potential OOC stars coming out of contract or interested in joining us at the end of 2021.

Or we can use it for another quality kid.

I have no doubt Essendon have buyers remorse when they gave up way too much for Dylan Shiel
I'm with you EJ....to all the experts out there, how many players have cost clubs 2 first rd picks (1-18) that have turned out overwhelming wow wee's....and how many haven't (Shiel, Beams, Gibbs)....if we have Williams and Saad combined added to our list for not a lot in value of picks, finals are now non-negotiable....club has to deal with the pressure of expectation. True? This is already enough to make me a little edgy.....giving up the ability to trade properly again next year added to Potential TPP issues, which SOS worked so hard to create makes me a little more edgy....I want #17 as much as anybody.
Am happy to give up picks this year, but anyone that requires a 1st rd this year and next year has to be as much of a certainty for the now and our list needs as possible.....almost zero risk.....ie 26yo Dangerfield.....
That's not Merret, JDG, Hunter or any others I've heard mentioned....nor the 3 examples above.
Plus, to finish, the more we bring in, the more we need to let go.....just my opinion.....come at me 😉
