That is clearly your opinion and it’s not reflective of what most supporters think is fair.

All I can say is thank god you are not doing the deal for us.

I just had a look at the draft order, Essendon's 2nd pick is 41, which I doubt will satisfy the blues, they have 61,67,70 and 79. It will end up with trades being done based around the points for academy picks. Personally I'm not a huge Saad fan, I would rather use the 7 to get De Goey.

The Saad trade will play out like this, pick 7 to Essendon a round 2 (maybe 3) going back to Carlton.

Cats need young talent I doubt they will trade for 7. They don't have a reason too, this draft is messed up because none of the Victorian Kids have been playing, so you would think they would prefer to have 2 cracks at a round 1 rather than taking the risk of having a crack at 1.

As for Carlton trading 7, it is a good thing for the same reason, you could end up getting a Blaine Boekhurst or Josh Bootsma. Unless you look interstate, then you run the risk of them wanting to go home in a few years.

So you think Silvagni gets done separate to the Saad deal?

So you think Silvagni gets done as separate to the Saad deal?
maybe, maybe not. i don't want jack gone either, I think he is a heart and soul player, the team play better when he plays. But Sos and little brother are no longer at Carlton, it wouldn't surprise to see him gone too. Other clubs may be interested and a 3 way deal could happen. But only speculation.

I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with irrational transactional partners before on high leverage topics.

On the basis that I knew his reputation and history, I would firstly get back to him and say - that’s a transparently ridiculous claim, but I get you need to set out a marker, and you can consider it set. Now - give me something realistic and we can get to work.

if he’s not moving substantially from there, I’m setting my terms, very close to the bone. I’m giving him a time at which that expires. it’s a hard deadline, because at that point I’ll need to move in another direction. I’m here to deal - with you or someone else, because we’ll back the draft getting him to us.

then I’m getting Liddle on the phone to Campbell. Simple message. We like Dodo, we respect what he sees as his role to protect the interest of * but : we’ve all got a lot to do, we can all see a middle ground if we want to be sensible and ultimately, the blokes out of contract and we all know he’s going to find his way to us. So let’s get on with things and maybe we can all shake hands at the end of it and get on with improving our clubs lists without a distracting pissing contest that helps no one.
Time constraints are an incredibly powerful negotiation tool that most people are unaware of.

Always need to weigh the risk of taking a player. Some with an injury history are a good calculated risk if you believe you can rehabilitate the problem, some are beyond help through no fault of their own.

Then there is the potential for the off-field stuff to be a distraction; fitness, drugs, alcohol, moving interstate, partner and family and so on. Pending criminal charges is a whole new level, DeGoey could be banned from playing altogether and the AFL would give us nothing in the way of assistance if that happened.

We are not so well placed we can throw away multiple high draft picks for a player that has a much higher chance than average of never playing again. All players are a health risk, why gamble on someone who unnecessarily adds more non-playing risk?
Just so everyone's aware, degoey will be in magistrates court October 30th before the trade period starts so it is possible that we will know the verdict before we decide to pursue the trade which I think is highly unlikely we would anyway.

I wouldnt be offering pick 7. And despite holding all the cards I would be trying to do a reasonable deal. Equivalent of a pick 15-20, or our 27 and a player.

Nothing would give me greater pleasure than telling Dodo to FO and let Saad go to the PSD, but these things have a way of coming back to bite you. Act in good faith, but do it on OUR TERMS!.

For anyone talking Saad Trade, splitting picks etc, it won't happen.

What will happen IMO is blues will trade 7 and get back a a 2nd or 3rd round pick, unless there is a player trade like a Silvagni or Casboult

Oh Dear
Might not be far off the mark actually. Could go similar to the jake Carlisle deal with the saints. In that deal saints basically swapped 5 for Carlisle and 14(swans involved too).
Might be something similar with saad.

Maher with some inside info from someone who apparently.........knows -

1. Hartigan to Hawthorn
2. BCrouch to Geelong
3. Witherden - Several keen but not Carlton
4. Mihocek - Melbourne in the mix
5. Stephenson - North & Essendon
6. Fantasia - South Australia
7. Merrett - But won't leave Essendon
8. Cockatoo - Brisbane
9. Townsend to Sydney
10. Wright - Several
11. McDonald - Several
12. Preuss - Giants and others
13. Ben Brown - Collingwood or Essendon
14. Mason Wood to....missed it. Who cares?
15. Broad - Gold Coast
16. Pickett _ Back to W.A.
17. Lonie - Dogs or Blues.
18. Jong - Gold Coast

Nothing particularly amazing here.

Would be quite pleased with Lonie TBF.

Oh Dear

I can see #7 & 27 for Saad and the end of 1st round compo for Daniher.

With some shuffling back due to compo etc it’ll be something 8 & 30 for Saad & 23.

We get our player and Dodoro saves significant face.

Close but bombers want players, so either it 7+ a player from us, or a player from a 3rd party involved (brodie perhaps?)

I’d play him exactly like those Richmond scum play Dustin Martin. “Centre forward”. I don’t like the term, but I’d play him in every centre bounce, and then he drifts into the fifty, and stays there, until the next centre bounce.
He’s the best one on one player in the comp.

That sounds pretty good!
I have my reservations with JDG as a negative influence re reputation/baggage, but no questions from me re his on field potential. Never had a good injury free run - could be bad luck, could be poor preparation, could be a bit of both - but undeniable talent.
Can’t see it happening, but it would be an interesting, unpredictable element to the team.

Pick 7 + Walsh/C Curnow. Just your normal, sane asking price for an out-of-contract 26 year old.
If this is true I’d love us to say “Adrian, your next offer is your last so I’d think long and hard about it. You’d want to be happy with it being public and if you keep up this garbage you’ll be getting nothing for him. See you in three weeks”. He is trying to start ridiculous we “negotiate” him down to taking just pick 7. He can piss off
