The last few years of trades/free agents haven't done much for us thus far. Reckon we need to concentrate on our club, development and coaching before worrying about recruits.

We could get cerra and turn him into a sh*t footballer within a month at our current rate.

I disagree. We got Betts, Pitto and Martin who have been important. We didn't give up much, if anything, for them.

We need to focus on both. We have had excellent retention of players the past 3-5 years and it's clear that we have a few younger players with currency that we will likely be offloading this off season.

excellent retention is because we over pay and put zero expectations on performance ..Who improves when they come to us ???

Hang on a minute.
Are you honestly saying that you don’t want Hodge at the club?
One of the best leaders in modern football, someone who demanded so much of his players and was as courageous as they come?
Someone who went to Brisbane and played a massive part in turning them from where we are now into a legit contender?
You can hand on heart say, that after watching that spiritless and demoralising loss today we don’t need someone with his level of inspiration as an assistant coach?
With all due respect, that opinion is just baffling.

Agreed. I wish we went hard for him, after he left the hawks as a player.

Really makes me wonder what happens behind the scenes. Last year Kouta mentioned that he wanted to volunteer at the club and it was stated that he wasn’t necessary. Not saying that Kouta is Hodge level leadership but by God to pass up his opinion on training standards or personal preparation for our midfielders is baffling.

I just don’t want another untried coach, that’s all.

If he was being offered the role of Head Coach, I’m with you. Certainly need some experience in that role. But Hodge as backline coach would be amazing. All you need to do is watch some off the ball footage of him to see him marshalling and structuring the backline, or footage of him in the huddle giving some very frank, open and honest feedback.
Sure he’s untried in an official coaching capacity, but his playing pedigree and footy IQ cannot be questioned.

Martin we got for free.

Betts 2nd leading goalkicker this year and immense defensive forward pressure.

Pitto was recruited for the precise reason if kreuzer went down....which he did. TDK did nothing last year.

With all due respect, Kouta only cares about 1 person. Kouta.
