ins and outs . . .

(with Clarkson still needing a ‘fitness test’)

In:
R Lyon (1 - 2 weeks)
N Buckley (test)
J Leppitsch (managed)
A Cerra (5 - 7 weeks)
P Ladhams (5— 7 weeks)
S Silvagni (long term)

Out:
D Teague (indefinite)
B Lloyd (managed)
B Stanton
D Amos
Z Fisher
D Picks
What I want to know is why we've let D Picks stay on the list for this long, with that waist length hair and terrible mustache.

He doesn't even pull his socks up.

I personally think it's a combination of SOS, Bolton and SPS's fault, and all three of them should be put into a cannon and shot in the general direction of Perth.

Judd Checked out a while ago, hasn't been there. Poor Form IMO

I'd check out too if my opinion was constantly ignored, starting from Teague's appointment.

Zac Fisher must truly be hella quick to have shat in so many people's cereal today.

He was decent. Equal team high tackle count with 7.

The thing that shits me is his attitude. After the game, having a hug and a laugh with that thug after he just king hit Saad a couple of minutes earlier...

Not sure how you would do it, without breaking their spirit...
But I'd like to take the Captaincy off Cripps and Docherty and let them get health and just play...

Leaders should be and they can pick a Captain and Vice Captain
  • Stocker
  • Weitering
  • Walsh
  • Silvagni
The leadership team and any possible future leaders should be placed into ongoing leadership support and learning

This comment is possibly fuelled by emotion after the performance on Saturday, but I'm happy to let Fisher go. He doesn't defend. He is happy losing. He would rather be best mates with opposition players than win games for Carlton. Butters & McHenry are the same size as Fisher, and both would die for their team-mates. Fisher runs around like he's Dusty when in reality he's put together 4-5 great games out of 65.

I 100% agree with this.
I was alarmed when he did that interview about Teague asking him to play half forward line as if he’d been asked to go to moon. Ironically when we play him in the middle he can only play in bursts and often doesn’t chase or tackle. He’s been on our list for 5 years and has done very little to suggest he’s going to make it. Personally I’d move him on at the end of this season (I’d rather keep LOB and Samo and see what Philp, Ramsay and Carroll can do) but I doubt anyone would be interested in him. Unless he improves dramatically I can see him ending up as a delisted free agent when his next contract expires at the end of next year, so in other words he is a season away from being a complete bust.

Leaders don’t need support it’s a natural talent or instinct. One either has it or not, much like hardness and toughness on the park, these natural attributes/ abilities are just that, they can’t be taught.

Fisher will do well at another club , he just has not clicked in our environment a little more challenging an individual to harness , the pandemic conditions have made it difficult just to get through life regardless of anything else.

He’s too concerned with making bank from investments. I thought he’d be a Carlton man for life. Can’t judge him for his pursuits but am disappointed at how he slowly faded into nothing from a clubland perspective..
He said his whole career he probably wouldn't be involved in footy post career as he didn't love the game in that sense. He loved playing and the on field work but not the mechanics behind the scenes. Some guys love that side of it, some don't. He wasn't ever going to be a clubman for life in that sense and to think he would is to not understand the man.

I get the feeling the role was just a notch on the belt for him, he didn't care for it.

Iirc the role was always only a part time position and while in the role he was ignored in perhaps the biggest decision the club made in the football department in recent times in getting a rookie, untried coach when he publicly said we want someone with experience. Then the hilarious calamity that was the separate approaches to Leppa. To suggest he didn't care is pure conjecture at best when there's public evidence that he did the opposite.

Didn't he resign from the board a while back? He's been whacked for not being there when we need him but he literally isn't even part of the board and hasn't been for a while. Not sure why his name has been brought up lately.

If i recall as well, Stocker was not exactly banging down the door week in, week out leading up to his inclusion. But once he got his turn, he has found his feet and not looked back. Sometimes the Club needs to back in their youngsters and give them a decent stint.
Regarding Stocker I think you’ll find he had a run of decent games at the start of this season in the 2s including a 37 possession game the week before he got picked to play against Brisbane.

The issue is the culture. We lack the drive and motivation to succeed. Unfortunately that can only be sorted by the players themselves as motivation and drive to succeed comes from within. Has to be player driven. If that doesn't sort then the likes of Clarko or Lyon will change nothing. Hard coaches sadly have fallen by the wayside here with our entitled lot Need to sift through the playing list and trade out those who seem happy just to turn up for the pay cheque rather than being driven to succeed. Otherwise we see another flop after a year 1 sugar hit.

I'm sure Bolton is going to fill Clarko in very nicely about the perils of coaching Carlton. I believe he may retire. Hawks have underachieved for two years anyway. Lyon's style of play won't suit us. Our skills coming out of defence will drive him to distraction. Hence my pick of Don Pyke.

Don Pyke hey maybe they can pack em all up and go on a camp aka Adelaide

So Clarko or Lyon as director of coaching, the other as head coach.
Buckley and Leppa as assistants, with Power staying on.
SOS as head of football.
Fisher and picks for Cerra.

Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool
