Started my Monday, thinking "just a few weeks to go" only to see nothing is forthcoming.


Saw some troll from the Freo board came to play, but was quickly shut down by Aph.


Little bit of chatter about Kornes and his typical anti-Walsh/Carlton rhetoric (though that would require his thoughts to be persuasive) and Newnes being robbed of Goal of the Year.


Seems the majority are discarding the sole Wines rumour and coming to terms with it being incorrect.


But on the other hand, it seems the Oliver fire continues to be fanned and remains alive.


Now all that we need is a nice little tidbit from a long-absent ITK poster, and those who've disappeared for fear of their mental health will return.

Dow is 187cm according to his bio.

While we can't see shoes worn, and size of heels etc Walsh doesn't look 6'2 to me... He's clearly shorter than Dow, not taller.

I wouldn't read too far into the listed height/weight of Footballers.. Sam Mitchell was apparently 180cm / 84kg during his playing days. I'm measured at 184cm and I sit at around 84kg, but I am much bigger than Sam Mitchell. I walked by him on Grand Final Day in 2015 (as I was part of the ground staff that day) and I was definitely a lot more than 4cm taller than him.

In fairness though, I've met Brayden Maynard and Steven May in person and they were both substantially taller than me, even though they're listed as 1.86 and 1.9, so maybe I'm underestimating just how significant 3-4cm can be?

But to be fair teaguey said bsos was coming from a fair way back. Maybe our club has identified a kpd in the state leagues ready to go. bsos was always a long shot

Oooooor...like had been suggested since his U16 year, he just didn't have the drive to really push himself...?

The coaching reports suggested he was progressing. They only had a year to fully evaluate.

I still don't believe Marc Murphy is 180cm and 80kgs. :tearsofjoy:

The coaching reports had everyone playing well. "Developing" is generally code for "poor but hopefully getting better".

When a player gets taken late in the draft, you'd expect that they'd need to work much harder than the high draft picks to forge a career. I'm not convinced BSOS had that attitude. Seemed happy enough just to be on the list and have the "developing tall" tag to buy him some time. If he had the same work ethic as a Cottrell or Williamson or Polson, or even his brother, he'd likely still be on the list.

Ignore the name, he was a project tall who clearly didn't look like he was pushing himself as far as he could.

We definitely need an 18 year old KPD developing in the twos and an experienced, physically developed option for cover. I'd consider Majak Daw for a year.

Could Majak play ruck if necessary?

Possibly bring him in on minimum chips as DFA as cover for two positions?

The pre-season alone shouldn't allow for conclusive judgement upon a player, but BSilvagni and Finbar showed very little.

There wasn't a single trait that stood out from either.
Honey & Phillips showed a lot more in their first than for anything the other guys showed up in their second.

I did say early this year that BSilvagni was hard to get a read on, as often he just didn't look like he wanted to be there.

The decision was made for footballing reasons, whether or not there may have been other factors.

Remove the surname and its a fairly harsh, but accurate call.
Add the surname and watch the tin foil hat brigade come running.
