I've never seen much on-field reason to keep Gary Rohan on a list.

Yeah, he kicks a few a couple of times a year, can run fast and has had injuries.

But he kicks less goals than Troy Menzel did, has a lower disposal average than Robbie Warnock and tackles less than Blaine Boekhurst (not making this up).

How he has lasted 11 seasons at some good sides is one of life's great mysteries.

Watched him have a massive impact on a game recently with much of what he done not recorded in the stats column though....

He has 2 shocking GF's so will be feeling the pressure this saturday to have a big one.

you're right but he'll probably kick 5 goals now and win the Norm Smith!

we could do worse than recruit him, just feels like a hybrid of the 3 players you mentioned would fix the gaping hole in the list when they left. 😁

SOS led the way in not overbidding. Carlton don't have 3 picks in this draft to trade for players if SoS had bent over on Martin and Papley
Very true .... I would like to think SOS was a tough but fair negotiator he put a price on an asset that he believed was fair and did not budge. Only time it came “unstuck” was with Gibbs first time around .... we got an extra year out of him (arguably his best) and then got the same deal the next year and with Martin and GC who everyone knew were being u reasonable and so we ended up getting him free!

both great outcomes for the club without looking Dodoish

Yep. His last quarter saved him on the weekend. Otherwise he was a candidate to be sitting in the stands for the GF.

Should GWS be concerned about their ability to keep Key Forwards? All started with Josh Bruce.. then Boyd, Patton, Lobb, McCarthy, Stewart, now Cameron.

I'd start with no matching allowed in the first round.
I'd start with building in a club loyalty incentive. For example, for every year of service for a player, an additional 5% of that player's salary is exempt from the cap. After 10 years = 50% exempt, so the player's own club can pay him massive overs to keep him if they wish, but it's still the player's choice to leave. Then let any player out of contract move to a different club if they wish i.e. anyone OOC is a free agent. Anything is tradeable, picks, players, coaches, PSD picks. No FA compo. There, fixed.
