North Melbourne would be somewhat annoyed right now.

Their exchange last year has them holding Melbournes #9 and if Williams & Cameron do manage to go through as FA's, that #9 will now be #11 at best, and then if Daniher & BCrouch somehow manage to extract a 1st round compensation from the AFL, that #9 is now a #13.

That wouldn't have been what North had in mind last year. Maybe they should have held onto that pick and taken Serong.

Would love Clark but can’t see Cats parting with him considering the age of some of there backs, was my favourite in his draft.
Kids a ripper, he’s a WA boy too so if he’s up for trade going home would make sense apparently Freo are into him, we do have a great bunch of WA boys ourselves...

If you want rumours I can make plenty up - seems as though that's all people do on this site, just throw their sh*t at the wall until it sticks

Josh Kelly to Carlton for our 3rd Rounder, GWS to pay 3/4 of his salary. It seems as though the club is unhappy with him as he was caught f**king the physios cousin at the presidents house. Rumour has it that his dog has strong ties to Docherty's dog, both their dogs can be traced to a mutual ancestor (they share they same great-great-great grandmother) so it just makes sense that he'd get to the blues. Can't give up my sources, sorry.

Seems extremely petulant.

On what basis do you think this? I mean, he's not been at all consistent this year (or, you know often throughout his career) but only a year ago he had a run of 8 games in which he kicked 3, 2, 2, 4, 4, 1, 1, 3 (rounds 2-9, 2019). You'd have thought they'd keep him around, given they've a lot of good honest B-/B+ quality players and very little by way of flash.
Others have joined the dots... the arrival of Cameron and the personal issues with teammates. Just seems on the cards. I did toy with the idea of pretending I had some mail, but I gather people don't make up rumours on here :)

My nephew knows the Crouch boys very well. Let’s just say it’s lucky for them that they can kick a footy.
I do too and safe to say that I would disagree with this take.
Are they rocket scientists? No but they're decent blokes and probably aren't hiding behind either their nephew or a pseudonym in order to pot others.

Got to give it to Geelong. Sustained excellence for more than a decade and they keep attracting targets. Has to be more than the beaches. Can hope we get there again at some stage.

They are just lucky location wise.

Geelong is a top region for junior players.

Many of them when they get the chance want to come back home to the region.

Made so much easier when they have no competition to bring local players back home.

Added to that HARKER I think the Geelong pick 11 traded from GC last year is fixed at 11 so in your scenario could go to 14

And so the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer....

Such is FA.

We did the right thing by going full rebuild, strong internal culture, tight group. It's the only way to ward off top clubs and avoid being a simple "feeder" club.
Absolutely. There are three current "dynasties" Richmond, Geelong and West Coast. Collingwood and Hawthorn are most likely on the downhill due to a couple of faux pas deals. Bulldogs and Saints have lists which may afford them sustained success. Freo have enough pieces to be a chance soon, but Mundy, Fyfe and Walters not getting younger. We are looking more and more likely to reaffirm our "traditional" place among the power teams thanks to a full rebuild.

Brisbane have built well, but have a few ready to retire soon and the jury is out if they have enough for sustained success, much the same as Port Adelaide. Sydney making a fist of it, but still hamstrung by Buddy, with a couple of oldies needing to be replaced. Melbourne, Essendon, Crows, North have holes that need addressing before they can be taken seriously. Gold Coast is anyone's guess, plenty of young talent, a couple of solid types, but will need to find some key planks.

No doubt, Free Agency is the now key to most club's competitiveness. These academies regarded as a leg up for the interstate clubs, may become a cross to
bear. Not many Lachie Neale's out there wanting to locate in non traditional states, and if they retain their own state "guns" there is no go home factor to acquire prominent players when they mature.

It's not just about height, it's about their size/shape, athleticism (pace, leap), strength, ability to play body-to-body as well as go with a leading player (and being able to read that play coming). Wingspan and how solid they are, provided they can actually play 1v1 and go with leads, are probably much better indicators than height alone.

Some smaller types can play bigger, Jonas at 188 is an example, but even then you probably want to avoid him being caught 1-1 in the square with someone much taller than him and no defensive support to come in and help.

I mean, Lukosius (who spent a lot of time at halfback this year) is taller than all the player mentioned but no way is he winning a 1-on-1 against a taller forward worth his salt. Plow is 193 but really is more suited to smaller/mid-sized opponents. Grimes can play tall but they really want him on a mid sizer or even a small like Cameron and will opt for that matchup where possible.

It works both ways; Membrey is only 188 but we're not going to want to play Willo on him, even though the height matchup is favourable. If you believe the CFC app, Jack is 194 but he sure as hell ain't no key position player... as far as I see it he's not even a 3rd tall, he's a flanker who happens to have some height on him.

Height ain't everything. It's like saying Heppell should be *'s 'big bodied inside mid' because he's so much taller than Merrett, Shiel, McGrath, Parish, Smith, etc.
Absolutely nailed it, great summarisation...

Yeah i exactly know what your saying and am well aware of the players we have available to play across that position but this kid would come in and be a best 22 lock either half back or on a wing he’s like bringing in a 20yr Heath Shaw quick skilled beautifully balanced attacking player, he’s a serious upgrade on Newman and Newnes who are handy players and no more playing SPS down there as well...
But is he in front of Doc & Saad?

Cameron is good but I get the sense his best is behind him. I could be wrong and geelong go back to back
Being interstate Queensland with time in NSW after spending my youth in Tassie, I had a great interest in the Suns and GWS. I really liked Cameron, until
seeing him live in Canberra when they won their first game. Have not held him in high regard since. He is a talented primma donna, no defensive pressure in the vast majority of his games, although can lay a tackle if he chooses to. Has the real "kick it to me" attitude and sooks when not fed, don't think he is a fan of the three pronged tall set up. He thrived when fed by their ultra talented midfield, but when the going got tough this year, where was he?

Not knocking his ability, but if the Cats can't reprogram him they will be overspending. More importantly, the Giants, in the longer term, will be better off without him. Enjoy your fishing sook

Of course they will have similarities...and differences. But you're still dancing around the point.

We have a variety of players with the size to be asked to do a job on a tall forward. If we lose Jones or Weitering, we have options. Let's take Geelong as an example. Weiters on Hawkins, Jones on the newly acquired Cameron. Weiters is injured pre-game. Casboult steps in to take Hawkins. Or Jones takes Hawkins, Marchbank/Plowman/Cas take Cameron, JSOS/Gov/Willo take the third tall.

Macreadie is the sticking point. If he's fit, we have that fourth KPD, and while he's still a bit inexperienced we know he has talent. The fact we're persisting tells me the club think he can get it together in 2021. If they don't, then I fully support cutting him and chasing a replacement.

I have never faced around the subject and unless proven otherwise, I still believe it is an area of concern

The facts are, we have less ample coverage compared to many of the stronger sides

I always got that vibe as well. I'd take Karate Kid Toby over him any day.

We have next to no coverage and it's not just about next year.
It's about finding the right type that can sync in with our mechanism and if he plays in the reserves all year, that's fine too.......but it's unlikely.

One poor game from a 31 year old Casboult in the backline and we'll realise just how much we should have been looking for a legitimate KPD
