Dion Prestia. Great player that Gold Coast fell apart without and he brought Richmond up to another level. B&F in a premiership year last year.

Still a chance we’ll be adding Dangerfield or Lachie Neale to that list this year anyway.

Besides that, you should never limit yourself with that kind of thinking. If you have a chance at adding a good player to the team who can take the team forward, that you can afford and is the right fit then you do it.
Succinctly put, if the right piec to the puzzle presents go for it,the Don Prestia and Caddy and Nankervis what a great scoop they changed the tiger trajectory, brilliant recruiting.

"The same can't be said for Dow, his kicking was getting worse even when playing his natural position." Did you catch Setterfield's comments about his disposal last year and the improvement this year? He said how another pre-season allowed him to get fit enough so that when he got the ball he wasn't spent so he was able to kick it better. I would think a second year player who was playing predominantly on ball might have found a similar problem?
I haven't seen Setterfields comments but that's been said about Dow over the journey, we'll see if that holds up.

"it was fairly obvious that his mismanagement caused his form slump." And what caused Dow's? His last game before being shifted forward he had 21 touches, 5 tackles and 5 clearances.
I said his possession numbers were ok, it was his kicking where the issues lay. That started before moving forward and wasn't solved when playing forward.

It's not the same when Walsh is missing 5 out of 25 targets and Dow is missing 5 out of 8.

PS - I'm pro-Dow
in the first 11 games of 2019 Dow was averaging 17.45 disposals a game for 3.45 clangers.

But, yes, agreed Walsh is better than Dow but Walsh is also an endurance beast so fatigue impacts less than on a burst player like Dow who doesn't yet have the tank. Both players disposal will improve as they get more pre-season under their belt.

Yes and his disposal issues will improve as his fitness improves or we can simplify the game into more a Dangerfield/Treloar style where its burst and bomb rather than bite off the short pass. Either way his possession number show that he can be a good player.

His possession numbers are ok without being great. If his issue with disposal is actually fitness then that will be solved, who's to say that's actually it, though? It's just a theory. I hope it's that simple.

I don't believe he has the burst speed of Dangerfield or Treloar fwiw.

Whilst reading all the negative comments about P Dow, I can't help thinking about a bloke who played for Hawthorn and at one stage held the record for most number of VFL/AFL games. Didn't Michael Tuck play 2 or 3 seasons of reserves footy before getting a regular gig with Hawthorn? And went on to be a very good player. Now we expect a player to be a topliner in first and second year. Paddy had a good first year, average second year and was injured nearly all his 3rd year. His early form was promising. Give him a chance.

He might not have their burst speed but it is still his weapon, simplifying the game to either handball or burst and bombis an option.

And if you want to test the theory - go for a 10km run doing a 100m sprint once every km then see how your kicking is at the end of it.

Apparently there's posts on the Hawks board saying that they are in talks with Stocker (don't shoot the messenger and yes they're aware he's contracted )

Well not hard to believe they're interested...just like we'd be talking to heaps of players.

We don't seem to know what exactly is going on with Stocker re why he left the hub. But that aside, he doesn't really appear to be anywhere close to a senior team spot, especially if we get another mid on top of Williams.

Even if there were a few injuries and spots open up, it looks like Dow & Philp would be ahead of Stocker for a midfield role. Maybe even Kemp.

Interesting but could it really go anywhere, can't see the blues letting him go for much less than what we paid for him and can't see the Hawks offering much more than nothing.

Concerning that while our group bonded together in the hubs so well that oppo players want in, Stocker was back home watching the boys on TV. I'd love to know what was actually keeping him in Melbourne.
