As per the Bluemour File OP, this is a thread for discussing Carlton related rumours.
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/bluemour-file.1085141/

Rumour posters should post their rumours in both threads for those that like just to read rumours and for those that like to have get lost in their rumour files.

I don’t understand why there is a media circus around how much Williams is getting paid. He’s a jet and everyone acknowledges that. Every team was clambering for his services until he announced us as his preferred destination.

There wasn’t this much outcry when Grundy, Shiel or Cogs signed on for over $1 mill. Jeremy Cameron is getting $1 mill after a terrible season. Guys like May, Hogan, Tippet, Polec, Hooker, Daniher, Tomlinson all signed big deals and haven’t lived up to potential. I’ve never seen so much scrutiny on a deal (in particular a free agent) before he’s even played a game.

As soon as Carlton sign one player we are apparently overpaying even with Martin last year and now Zac despite no draft picks paid and a truck load of spare cap space which otherwise would get distributed amongst depth players.

Reckon there are a lot of jealous * supporters in the media along with other teams who are starting to view us as a potential threat and hope to cause unrest in our locker room (ie- putting pressure on McKay and Cripps to ask for more money).

Camporeale’s response to Williams’ salary. No one knows sh*t.

Big difference between 700 and 900. Lot of spotlight on Willams, yet no talk of Lions paying similar salary to a guy that's kicked 18 goals over the last 3 years.

We couldn't afford to keep missing on targets though, and likely we've accepted having to overpay for one player to get a move on. I'm sure Williams already played a part in Saad's decision, and no doubt we'll have more interest this time next year.

At least that's what I hope we've done, as opposed to taking a less stringent approach to salary management.

Ask Pies supporters if Williams can be a match winner. And I'm sorry but in 2019 61 players earnt more than 700,000, its not 1995. And again with this reporting of 700k-900k, might as well report that they don't know the value.

Yep.

They’re scared and I love it 😁

A player on 450k at GWS is not going to move for under 200k more, that is 100k extra after tax. No one knows what Williams is on but 700k sounds like the price to illicit player movement. The additional is speculation or incentive based

Checked out Jack Lonie's footage.

Zippy forward who has good moments, ball use is sub-par. Tackling above average.

Gets out the back regularly and presents in dangerous positions.

Seems very coachable based on positioning.

Biggest let down is kicking, lacks distance and a variety of goal scoring kicks.

Probably pass. Pressure forward role is his only viable position

If he can’t kick he's of no use, if we want to start to climb upwards regain some respect, players must align with tougher attitude, better
kicking ability, footy IQ and endurance all vital. We can’t expend precious resources for almost AFL standard.

Docherty, Houli and Ryan all averaged 18 disposals off half back. Reduced quarters and Williams only played 11 games this year. Campo is guilty of a superficial look.

So Daniher on a lesser contract got a first, but Adelaide's pick will be pushed back?

Shocking. The Crows would be fuming.
And with good reason, as it`s this sort of bias towards the Vic clubs that the interstate clubs are always going on about, so this only adds more heat to the debate..........got to look after poor * now that players are quickly jumping off their leaky boat!!!

Less years but more money per year isn't it?

He's been injured but Daniher is clearly a better player than Brad Crouch. Pick 2 for him would have been a travesty.

Media takes a slice both ways, whenever a top team gets a FA the narrative is the rich get richer. Whenever a bottom team plays the market rate to pry a player loose the narrative is they paid to much.
Free agency is what it is, just let it be and scrap the compensation.

happy trade period all xoxo.

Kicks off on Wednesday because there is some 3 minute horse race happening on Tuesday that we can’t interrupt, so we can’t start the trade period on Monday.

wow, what a rort.

You're telling me, just like FA starting on a Friday. I guess it was worst when the trade period ran for 3 and a half weeks. Imagine dealing with Dodo for that long. Yikes.

Its hardly a rort, the trade period is usually well and truly over before the Spring Racind Carnival peaks. The AFL isn't the only sporting competition in town. It would have been very poor form for them to have started the trade period today.
