As per the Bluemour File OP, this is a thread for discussing Carlton related rumours.

Rumour posters should post their rumours in both threads for those that like just to read rumours and for those that like to have get lost in their rumour files.

Its the sum of the parts, of course. But the club see Saad as part of that. He is a specific type and a proven quantity. Not some "maybe" kid from the draft who hasnt played in a year whos gonna take time to develop. We're gearing up for now.

Not sure why you are comparing Saad to a draftee, when each type hit peaks at different stages

What i'm saying is that pick 8 is overs for Saad, but on the other hand he improves our best 22 by quite a bit next year. So where is the balance? If we can get a 2nd rounder back from Essendon, be it this year or next take the deal.
OK. You weren't particularly clear that you were expecting a second rounder back, it sounded like you were just happy to do the deal for pick 8 alone.

Personally my preferences, if using pick 8, would be in this order:

1. We get a late first rounder somehow and give them that.
2. We get a late first rounder back from them.
3. We get an early-mid second rounder back from them.

Anything else, then:

4. We walk him to the National Draft, and f**k them!

Hopefully, both Dodo and Austin get serious now and look for mutual gain and not one-up-manship.
Either they take a second rounder and a role player (like a JSOS or Kennedy) or pick 8 with a first coming back.

I wouldn't want to lose either of those boys but it's just an example where everyone comes out with a positive. The more I think about it the more I think Jack would suit the bombrès, plus SOS is trying to get a job there by the sound of things so might work out best for everyone that way.

Im comparing him to a draftee because my question to you was specifically about taking Saad in the ND. Which you have answered. I dont agree and if using pick 8 to acquire Saad can increase our hand at the trade table im all for it.

Because I would take Saad at pick 8 in this years draft.

Can't get my head around the McCartin news.

I love that we're thinking outside the box but I just can't see why we'd go down that path.

Weight issues, fitness, huge concussion risk and diabetes.

Would take the heat off McGovern? Maybe a casboult replacement?

I hope it's just due diligence, I reckon he's a head injury away from ruining his future.

By splitting Pick 7(8) we call that bluff and give ourselves better opportunity.

They hold picks 6 and 7, us splitting our pick doesn’t call any bluff, i am referring to the idea that we can get him in the ND or PSD, if we were in their shoes, I would be telling the * and whatever player, we will pick you in the draft if we don’t get a fair deal.

If Ess trump us and split their pick, they can trade us for 8 with a first coming back. They can choose which one.

There’s many options. It’s their job to get creative. Time to crack the whip. We can’t just hand over whatever because we believe he improves us. Developing from within improves us too. I’m willing to bet that pick 8 this year ends up being a considerably better player than Saad down the track.

Saad is a huge get for us. People suggesting otherwise are nuts. Teams have tended to get on top of us when they’ve tagged doc. Now if they do it, it’ll let Saad get off the hook
Saad is a good fit for us but I think you are getting just a little bit over-excited with his ability.

No one and I mean no one would take Saad at pick 8 in the ND, in our current position

That suggests you wouldn't get a single pick back, which is so far over the odds it's laughable

Absolutely take a free hit on paddy mccartin

Id love to know why and to play where, I read this afternoon that * are interested in Gov, then the move makes total sense, but as things currently sit, I’m not sure. Do we have long term concerns over Charlie’s knees, do we think Gov will he traded if he has another poor year, it’s a strange move by us and a real strange one from him.

I think we should all be a bit weary of buying at a premium here. Might get a decent return for a year or 2, but we're offering 5 so could go anywhere really. 🤞 no injuries.

‘Walk him to the PSD.’

No running, no heavy lifting, nice leisurely stroll.....just sounds cool.

Do it.
please keep out of my gags..............

It's up to Mitch really.
I love Mitch, reckon he can be a star.
Needs to work harder though on staying fit, linking with teammates, and making opportunities count.
Need to see him put it all together. I still have high hopes.
