For some reason Joey on trade day was banging the same drum. Kings had to step in and go through them all, highlighting the spine is set for a decade

reckon it’s because we played a bit of an older team this year with Betts, Gibbo, Newnes, etc taking spots that would have been held by 18-20 year olds under Bolton.
Because the match day 22 was older than perhaps expected by some (also factor Simmo, Murph, Ed, Levi, Jones in here) some assume it’s an accurate picture of the whole squad for some reason.

Simce then Simmo has retired so the average age has dropped about 4...

I love these so called experts, more like carlton haters. We add two a graders and a promising kid who’s only 21 and they label our period a B. Just have to laugh
Right? Yet the Sainters add who? Brad Crouch (who 17 other clubs refused to touch) Shaun McKernan (who 17 other clubs refused to touch) and Jack Higgins, a player behind Daniel Rioli and Jake Aarts at the selection table..

The Sainter's rank as the second best team from the trade period, with the Dogs being first. How can we not be in the same echelon? We hit all of our targets and essentially obtained two AA's (Aware that Saad isn't an AA - but he is CLEARLY the best running defender in the game) for pick 8.

If we're looking at who obtained the best player relative to their clubs BnF performance this year - then we did too. Of all major trade targets, the club BnF results are as below:
Saad 3rd
S Higgins 8th
Adam Treloar Ranked outside of the top 10
Williams Ranked outside of the top 10
Cameron Ranked outside of the top 10
J Higgins Outside of the top 10
Crouch Ranked outside of the top 10

I'm also not sure how you can rate the Dogs trade period so highly either - what, because they refused to buckle to the Dodo for their contracted, 190cm+ inside mid? They also lucked into obtaining Treloar, they, along with the Hawks were the only clubs to entertain him. Obviously the Mitch Hannan and Stefan Martin pickups were good value and smart trading, but without Treloar, they walked into the trade period with a 34 year old ruckman on his last legs and a fringe forward as their two trade targets.

Wow apparently Dogs knocked back pick 7 and * future 2nd for Dunkley.

Dodo is a flipping idiot, there was no way the dogs would have taken even pick 6 this year. Would just be eaten up on JUH.
Stoopid prick should have just offered next years first and second, I reckon Dunkley would be filthy with them

Probably in the minority, but I don't think this trade will help the Dogs. You can only have so many midfielders before you have to play some out of position, and they were already doing that.

This also gives more time to guys like Daicos to spend more time in the middle, and I think he'll be a better player than Treloar.

Treloar obviously a great value pick up but yeah he isn't actually what they needed...dunkley already wanted out due to lack of midfield time.

Don't even think they were that interested but in the end couldn't pass him up at such a discounted price which is understandable...will be interesting to see how it works out. Treloar can't play any other positions.

Will be a good hunting ground for next offeason.

The downgrade of picks from 30 to 38 for Fogarty was actually genius by Austin.

Hadn’t looked too much into the academy players and picks tied to those clubs until now.

6 of the 7 picks between 31 -37 are tied to clubs (WB, Syd, Port, Freo, GS) with academy players that will likely get bid on earlier in the draft.

So 38 could drop to 31 or 32 - so basically cost us bugger all.

Well done Austin!

Not a good idea to ask a player to nominate you and then effectively back out of that deal.

Given Essendon's circumstances...and The Dogs circumstances, if the future first wasn't on the table, Dunkley's management should never have green-lighted the 'Make me a Don' line.

Awkward for Dunkley unfortunately. He'd be pretty disappointed and maybe just a little annoyed with Essendon today.

He showed that he can play pretty well up forward actually for a while at Collingwood!

I'd be playing Treloar as a halfback flanker in a Saad-type role.

Have to feel for Dunkley - not only left at the altar by Dorito, but is now even further from that coveted centre square role. In a just world, agents would be advising players to steer well clear of Tullamarine.

For those saying wells blinked, consider that he got Cameron, traded mid range first rounders in a compromised draft, and got 2 seconds in a good draft, and kept their first.

Not bad I would of thought

Geelong have absolutely smashed it, A+++. Still not sure how they managed to load up next year at the same time.

GWS took Caldwell & Hately in the 2018 'super' draft.
2 years later both are gone along with 2020 #44 for.....2020 #29 and 2021 ~#22

They could have taken Butters and Duursma with the two picks they used for the aforementioned.

What a terrible net loss for GWS. Serves them right for taking types they had an abundance of.

And the most important thing - he’s got a player that will take Geelong a lot closer to a premiership. Think sometimes it’s forgotten that’s what trading and draft picks are really about.

and Twomey keeps talking about this year being a clear standout top 5, after which is gets speculative as you've got the vic kids with no form.

Knightmare with the good stuff.

A+!

Collingwood - F. That must hurt him a heap being a Pies man.

Geelong did release 3 first rounders but got back 2 * 2021 2nds
Whose seconds are they though? GWS's and Essendons? so maybe a ~#22 & ~#34

The intriguing pick swap was between Melbourne & Brisbane.
Melbourne get: #18 & #19 and a future second - approx pick ~#33
Melbourne lose: #25 and their 2021 1s rounder.

Reckon Brisbane are really smart with their List Management. Could be a worry for us going forward.

EDIT: Collingwood now unloading on Stephenson. What a terrible outcome either way.

Collingwood shouldn't be unloading on anyone right now, I think they just need to swallow the pill and cop what's coming. They deserve every bit of it.

Watching that Ned Guy interview last night I almost felt bad for him. He knew what he was saying was BS, the guys at Fox Footy knew it was BS, and everyone watching it knew it was BS, but he had to be the company man and do his best to spin it how his bosses say to.

I saw a thing last night that basically showed in the Treloar trade after points etc. they basically netted pick 68 out of him, then here's Guy sitting there saying we made trades for picks to get more young talent in. So transparently a lie.

Quality observation this.

Feel like doing the full draft and letting us now what 48 and 78 may do? ;)
