He’s my man B McKay
At the risk of repeating myself Brutal, we need a backup KPD....he’s the one to target next year.
started to show something this year......

2019 season Casboult played his best footy of his career when played a role as a key defender, thought he was incredible down there, had a huge influence on many games, massive difference in us winning a few... For me that’s his most effective position, unfortunately opposition KP matchups denies him of his true belonging...

Should we target out of contract Ben McKay in 2021? Very young at 22, and could be the eventual replacement for Jones as well as some ruck relief for TDK/Pitto.

Above average for - Handballs, disposal efficiency (a whopping 83.3%), kicking efficiency (a massive 77%), one percenters, centre clearances, ruck contests, spoils and contested one on ones.

Elite for - Hit-outs to advantage.

Thoughts?

He wouldn’t be the eventual replacement we not for Jones, he would take over round 1 2022.

Will he extremely difficult to prise a 23 year old KPD out of a club in the middle of a rebuild.
He’ll play every game for Nth can’t fit him Jones and Weitering into the same backline, too good to be sitting in the reserves waiting for a game on injuries, if possible Sam DeKoning would be a perfect get with only 2years under his belt but can still still develop with the chance of slotting in if needed through an injury, Macreadie injury free can hopefully cover too...

The stumbling block I foresee is that Merrett is also on our radar, who would be seen as a final piece.

If * match, how do we afford them both?

Assuming Merret and a second round will cost two first. Is three second rounders enough? Potentially given their list turnover will require additional draft picks. A player who can service them during their rebuild? Who?

Its a difficult puzzle. At the moment I really only want to bring in McKay and Merrett but that may change as the 2021 season rolls on. They should be the priority though. Whether thats the view internally at the club is another matter
It depends on our list needs at the end of next year. Right now, I think a Merrett or Kelly is more important, but we also have a decent hole in our KPD stocks.

If guys like Dow, Kennedy, Stocker, Kemp, O'Brien and Cottrell really step up, then maybe there won't be a need for another mid/winger.

Not really trusting Macreadie at the moment. Played 9 games in 4 years and just hasn't got his body right. I wouldn't be confident with him on a key forward like Cameron or Hawkins.

Play Ben & Harry leading out of the square. Confuse the bejeezuz out of defenders!
Nek minnit our midfielders win the ball and bomb it to Ben McKay leading into defence.

Agree his not trustworthy with how his body has let him down, another year of the same and he’ll be more than likely delisted end of year... Hasn’t had the chance too show us his true talent... I’m a big fan of him unfortunately it’s been the lack of playing that has impacted on knowing whether he has the capacity to become that true KPP or a very good 3rd tall defender...
Massive year for him, if his body stands up would be a huge bonus...

It will be interesting to see what the Cats do with Narkle, if they delist him I still think we should be looking to pick him up depending on list sizes, he just has a lot of upside that would really add to our list.
Narkle would be a great get, but I've got a feeling that now they've lost Fogarty, they may end up offering him a 1 year deal.

Agree. Can't believe the love for Allir on here. Lacks discipline both on and off the field although maybe Kenny could change that. I can't see anyway that he gets a game for us unless Jones or Weitering were out. Someone mentioned that he is a better lock down defender than Plowman - Come on - Cameron, Gray and all of the players that Plow plays on would make mince meat of him. If anything he is a better loose defender than accountable. Average in the ruck. Sydney had no great concerns about letting him go (in effect a swap for Tom Hickey which tells you where they saw his value).

What has he done off the field?
