Plowman played a great came on Cameron in 2019, is a team player, very strong and low center of gravity. He is slow, can't be relied on for anything other than easy defensive 50 exits (same as Jones).

People say he can play on smalls largely because of that game on Cameron, but there is no chance in hell we want him on him in the 2021 prelim or granny.

Stephenson regularly kills him.

Id play Marchank, Williamson and Newman all infront of plow

That's just my opinion, you can just disagree and write me off as having poor acumen if youre a plow fan.
Stephenson hasn't killed anyone in 2 years. Plowman is out best lock small forward lock down player he plays. Name one small forward this year that lit us up?

Not a Plowman fan as such but he often gets the tough matchup owing due to our lack of cover of good small/medium defenders - Doc, Simmo, SPS & Willo were all there for what they can do going forward rather than their ability to shut down a dangerous opponent.
For a side that often utilises a +1, the Port & Pies games highlighted our inability to support an isolated defender & it's something I hope that the coaches have an eye on.

Ed Phillips, interesting player

Reasonable quality of players, being delisted
Wait, was he cut?

Very keen if so. Mentioned him a little while back.
I am convinced you pair play Pokemon.

Gotta catch 'em all. (list sizes shrinking, not growing)

Stephenson had his best game of the year against us this year (11 touches, 5 marks and 2 goals 4) but it was the fact he was able to simply play out of the square and run into space and the ball carrier had time and space to put the ball out in front of him that hurt us, I don't think anyone would have done much better than Plowman.

If you go over the last 2 years you will see Plowman is rarely beaten. This year he did a terrific job on Darling against the Eagles and had a total of 2 goals kicked against him by elite smalls Papley, Walters, Cameron and Gray.

I don't, I just really enjoy the list management side of things and therefore see value in a lot of players who become available.

But there are plenty I wouldn't touch - McCarthy, McKernan to name two recently delisted examples.

I wouldn't say Allir is a better lockdown defender than Plowman.

But he is physically gifted and blessed with decent spacial awareness.
Fair bit of mongrel, tough and nasty.
Versatile.

I like him a lot. He'd play most weeks in most teams.
He's also gone to Port. This discussion about Aliir seems a bit like tilting at windmills.

Me too. If I thought we had a chance in hell of having a rookie spot spare, I would be spruiking Joshua Cripps. Patrick's "little" brother
about 198cm and growing. Originally touted as a ruck, but was slotted to play key forward and captain Aquinas College ahead of highly
touted team mates Logan McDonald and Nathan O'Driscoll both locked in to the top 10 by most draft watchers(McDonald may be #1).
Josh suffered an ACL preseason thus removing him from mainstream draft calculations.

We need a developing hybrid forward ruck, who may also be able to play KPD. I reckon if he plays next season as an overager, he will
be at the top end of draft prospects next year. Would love the room to take him from the bargain basement this year if we are able to "dream".

Also works on the Kyle Dunkley principle.

Would love to apply this to McKay, De Koning, Walsh and Cripps family. With a possible father/sister/brother McKay on the cards next year at a discount.

Also the 'keeping Cripps in Melbourne' element has to weigh in here.

Should we target out of contract Ben McKay in 2021? Very young at 22, and could be the eventual replacement for Jones as well as some ruck relief for TDK/Pitto.

Above average for - Handballs, disposal efficiency (a whopping 83.3%), kicking efficiency (a massive 77%), one percenters, centre clearances, ruck contests, spoils and contested one on ones.

Elite for - Hit-outs to advantage.

Thoughts?

How exactly are his 5 career hitouts elite?

Is this a trick question...absolutely we should try to get him in

The stumbling block I foresee is that Merrett is also on our radar, who would be seen as a final piece.

If * match, how do we afford them both?

Assuming Merret and a second round will cost two first. Is three second rounders enough? Potentially given their list turnover will require additional draft picks. A player who can service them during their rebuild? Who?

Its a difficult puzzle. At the moment I really only want to bring in McKay and Merrett but that may change as the 2021 season rolls on. They should be the priority though. Whether thats the view internally at the club is another matter
