Just to clarify when SOS was list manager we waited until all deals were done to pass judgement, but with Austin we attempt to hang him immediately?

Why don’t we wait at least until tomorrow night to see what he can turn this into? Surely that’s not too much to ask for

I was thinking the same thing -I'll wait til 7.30pm Thursday night to reserve judgment on how well he's in his first outing. So far we've got Saad (if that deals actually done) and Williams - let's see what he can do from here.

Pick 13 in this draft (likely pushed back to 15-16) is probably fair. Obviously need 48 for something, perhaps for Fogarty.

Not stoked with the deal but it's done and now we move on having acquired a very good player.

I had thought (hoped) we would go psd from day one, however I think if a club goes psd too often on highly rated players it isn't a good look.

But I also said I dont care what the club decides because they know much better than any of us what a decent deal is.

We win easily in the end because pick 8 has no actual value, but a fine player that serves a need is like gold.

And now we have some decent draft currency.

ADAM SAAD has DA DA DA in his name 3 times FFS.
Get around him.
**** pick 8.

A few posts above you, pick 13.

Probably about ~3-5 picks above where I think his value lies.
Points mean stuff all, a couple of spots in draft can mean difference between the player you want to accepting next available.
The late pick that we won’t use is to appease nufties when the club when club tries to sell us that this values Saad at pick 13

got to think big picture: in Williams, Saad, probably Fogarty, out 8 - yeah we could have done it so much better - will never understand the lack of pick split, but we are significantly better today than we were a week ago

To add to the big picture, Saad helps us make finals next year, we look really attractive and secure nomination from someone like Oliver/Merrett. We won't be worried about draft picks when our team is stacked with gun mature players and we are top 4 contenders.

I reckon a lot of people here focusing on the number 8, maybe don't quite realise how much it's been devalued by the fact recruiters didn't get a chance to see VIC players play at all, and didn't get to assess other state players against them. I predict the 'success' rate of players who make it in this draft to be lower than average because of it.

No excuse for not splitting the pick pathetic
The issue with the Pick splitting is the Daniher compensation. Any offer of splitting pick 8, Essendon to prevent it just needed to say hey we will give you pick 7.

That’s the exact hand I would have played to get pick 8 from Carlton if I was Essendon

Well congratulations to the media campaign to screw Carlton. From day one there was a calculated media campaign to get * pick 8 and they achieved that. Carlton should have walked him to the PSD.
Its only a media announcement, they dont get to decide, we should lodge court appeals and demand a recount

There is no defending this trade, Austin should be looking for a new job. We have been saving up cap space for 5 years to use on two half back flankers.
