Id suggest that keeping the anger/emotion internal, and not throwing the players under the bus publicly, is consistent with good leadership.

He’s not coaching the fans, despite what many in here seem to think
I’m pretty sure that saying the system holds up and that it’s the execution that is letting us down is throwing the players under the bus, when in reality it is the defensive systems and structures along with the midfield/ stoppages/transition coaches that are letting the team down.

What he has done well and what shows how good his man management is, is continually get the players back up after a loss, which shows in that we haven’t lost 3 in a row under Teague, however that may change after we play our next game, but on the flip side we haven’t won 3 in a row under Teague either which again I think comes down to system.

If JUH is gettable we should 100% throw our hat in the ring.

With the unknown factor of how Charlie will return from injury, we need to start brining through another young tall anyway. JUH would be perfect.

Will be a big line to get him though. Bombers, Pies would both go super hard.

Think we need to concentrate on keeping our own players first before we turn to bringing in new talent.

This next 6 months is probably the biggest and most important in living memory. We really need to get this review right. Get our coaching structure right. And retain Harry.

Getting Diesel to Carlton was the most important 6 months in recent memory, and prior to that getting sticks and braddles to CFC, and prior to that getting jezza and harmes to carlton, and prior to that getting ron barrassi to the carlton, and prior to that ...

S you can’t remember stripped of draft picks? In our dark days ?

Of course I remember. Well I'm 33 now so was in my teenage years.

Those sanctions were 20 years ago. And were obviously out of our control.

When I say this 6 months is the most important in recement memory I think its fair to say in the last 20 years would be in recent memory.

I would also say after how heavily we have sacrificed and invested in this rebuild in the last 5 years, this next 6 months is really going to be defining if the rebuild was all for nothing or if it turns out to be a success.

We've finally put a decent list together. We really need to get this review/ coaching structures right. If this rebuild fails and we need to start again it's going to be a massive kick in the teeth.

I can’t recall you saying 6 months ?

The fans more or less accepted the rebuild and were aware of how the results would be for the "66 games".

The pressure built on Bolton because there wasn't the upswing, then Teague came in and got some life out of the team for half a season. Since then it's been the same underwhelming results as when Bolton was in charge.

Like you've said the next 6 months is really important. If it doesn't go well I can see memberships crashing next year (especially once the freebies don't renew) and attendances following. We bought in and were accepting of a few years of building, now if that's failed the fans won't be happy I don't think. The sleeping giant was waking up, but if the on field crashes then we might just go back to sleep for a while.

Sam Edmund has just reported on SEN that clubs have been sussing out Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, who he says is becoming increasingly disillusioned with life at the Dogs and that he may be gettable. JUH has been doing some training with Fev, as he's now dating Mia Fevola...any chance this puts us at the front of the queue to get him? Think he'd be a pretty nice addition to our forward line...

No.

Stopped reading there.

Question remains.......have we??? Is the list decent or did we/club over rate it?? Are we poor due to coaching or cattle?? I'm starting to lean towards cattle

I believe it’s all got to do with the management of these players whatever that may be , you could have a Ferrari in the garage but if you dont know how to handle / drive it then you’ll wrap it around a pole .

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there recently (and by recently I mean in the last 2 or 3 years sort of thing) some murmurings that the Dogs don't do a great job with indigenous players? I recall there being some criticisms of this a while back and was evidences by the very few indigenous players at the Dogs recently
We have a indigenous board member and have Travis Varcoe who is our development coach and Brett Goodes worked with the club after his playing career ended with us. The club have worked hard over the years to change that

I can’t remember if it was quoted or eluded to that Carlton was Martins choice due to the fact that the Doggies had no other indigenous players on its list. I think that’s all there is to it.

yes correct Jack Martin and chad wingard choose other clubs because of it.

The conception of the non coaching Scott becoming an assistant seems very unlikely. Has a good AFL job which would probably be on a similar wage. Might jump back in if a plum senior job came up but why come back as #2 when the perception of your performance is dictated by how well the senior coach does?

I would have liked to have seen him as our coach after Bolton, not a rookie and still with plenty left in him. If the club moved on Teague, I'd still have him over people like Lyon and Clarkson, if he even wanted to return to coaching.
