Always liked him but is it a position of need? We’ve got Plowman, Newman, Williamson, Kemp, maybe Parks.
I prefer the idea of a workhorse like Hewett as an Ed Curnow replacement or investing in some goal kickers than picking up a slight improvement of what we’ve already got.

He'd be an upgrade rather than filling a need position tbf, fair point.

Getting one doesn't necessarily mean losing another, but if it were you'd have to lean the way of need.

No, it's the exact opposite. I want people's politics and personal agendas completely out of it and away from my sports. That has always been my gripe and something I will do whatever is in my powers as a member and/or stakeholder to achieve. I may yet get an opportunity to do so sooner rather than later unfortunately.

Are we talking about Jake Kelly? He's not an upgrade on anything or anyone. Ultra defensive and has never taken a kick of more than 20 metres, which indicates that he is a pretty poor kick.

Pretty sure that he has never finished top 10 in the crows b & f. Pies decided they didn't want him as a father/son.

Plowman has him covered by the veritable length of the flemington straight. Imagine Jake Kelly playing on Charlie Cameron or Jack Darling like plowman can. I can never quite work out the hate for plowman on here. His one weakness is quick leading players one out at full forward. A good coach would ensure that didn't happen. Every other task he gets he does.

Gia's the big firmer. He's my pick. Looked every inch a coach during his latter days at the Dogs on the bench when he was injured. Coach his own team to 2nd after the regular season, and was named assistant of the year in 2019. I'm happy to take him.

I don't agree, I think Kelly is a very reliable 3rd tall.

I don't hate Plowman and have been a defender of him, though I'm well aware that he is no more than a B/B- grader who can be improved on. That may not be Kelly, that's fine I could be wrong, but Plowman isn't a position of strength. He's reliable enough to not need immediate replacing, but he's also not invulnerable should an option present itself. I think Kelly could be that option.

Tbh I think he'd be replaced by Marchbank if he can stay fit. That's a big if obviously given his history, but if he does get a consistent run we don't need to look at anyone outside the club.

I was on a fairly large night out once and found myself standing next to Stevie J at the bar. Struck up a conversation with him and chatted quite a bit about the AFL (actually a really nice guy). The conversation naturally evolved in to a conversation about Rhys Shaw. Stevie J told me that Rhys was a bit of a laughing stock amongst the Sydney players. So much so, the players thought it would be hilarious to all nominate him and put him up for the assistant coach of year award. It was all one massive inside joke.

Totally. I am constantly amazed at how many people make up the AFL media. There seems to be dozens & dozens of people trying to squeeze a quid out of it.
