Sorry to go off football topic for a moment - in my other life (which is second fiddle to being a Carlton supporter) I'm a writer, and several of my books are taught in schools. I meet teachers all the time - just had a zoom with Elwood Secondary students this morning. The teachers I've worked with for many years are champions. They work their guts out and they care passionately about kids. And they are poorly paid for the extreme hours they put in. And some of them follow Carlton.

I can't help but wonder if the rush of rumours a couple of weeks back (and let's face it - they were all over the place) stemmed from some strategically released info to root out where the leaks were coming from.

thats what I really like about Sayers ... has managed to come in and from what true blue supporters see and not the blue hating jurnos write ... we see actual change in a very short amount of time. Can only be a good thing that it looks like that for the first time in a long time everyone is on page. Fish has been rotting from the head for too long.

Sayers has not delivered anything yet - so he will be judged in time-but it feels like Carlton is doing things its own way. There is a steeliness about the coaching and ceo search and replacement

I could give you an easy way to become a primary school teacher - do SFA for 5-10 years after school (work odd jobs, in cafes, enough to pay for your grog on weekends) and then when you realise you need a career just become a school teacher. So many people i know who hit 25+ and realised they needed a career have done this.

Teachers don't get enough respect as a profession in our society. Much like nurses.

You really don't know the hard work they do at the coalface to perpetually educate the generations with pretty meagre pay and support.

As a kid, you aren't old enough to appreciate it, and as an adult, you just take it for granted.
