The perception of Carlton is that it is a club for the boys and a toy for our wealthy elite supporters (Mathieson) and board members.

Cook would not come if his position was compromised. He needs the authority to do his job in the best manner possible. He has earned his reputation at multiple clubs. He's also not a Carlton name.

It's a significant departure on what the club has had before. He changes the perception. He gives a lot of elite candidates across various footbsll department positions the understanding and belief that they will not be undermined but instead supported by one of the best who will only bring in the best

i get the desire some have for immediate gratification, and also the desire to be the one to dunk on takes they either don’t like or view as fanciful.

It might just be possible that a very methodical process is being followed, the club has a perfect world scenario they are building towards, while still following a path that will net them the very best position available if that perfect world fails to materialise.

Given how little meaningful info has left the club, it’s also highly possible that they’re letting journos draw their own conclusions from scraps to allow the club (and the potential building blocks) clear space to work through the details.

from the outside looking in, I feel more confident than I have in years that we’re in the best possible hands.

Mick Warner pointed out the Blues are still very interested in Clarkson in his weekly HS Footy podcast yesterday. The club’s number one ticket holder and federal treasurer Josh Frydenburg pointed out in the media (printed in The Australian) over the weekend “there’s a few of us who want see Clarkson in a Carlton guernsey“ and confirmed that his friend Luke Sayers is still “extremely keen for Clarkson“.

Media as evidence- makes for a difficult argument, if only selecting say Sam Edmund . . .
