Ed 31 years old. One of the fittest in league.

Leads Hewett in all statistics of relevance.
32 next month, great competitor but he is close to the end regardless of fitness.

Hewett is still 25, solid pickup, will slot straight into the 22 and fills a need. Low cost, no draft picks, great money-ball pick!

Not sure that Hewett is just a tagger. He was freed up of his "tagging" by the Swans late in the season and his offensive stats increased significantly. Just because he has been used as a tagger doesn't limit him to just being a tagger. I think he will be a good pick up and he and Ed will both be in the team round 1 next year

Ow SOS. Ed and Hewett can play in the same side you know. Hewett will take his spot completely in 2023. Weird how he can’t look at this as an astute pick up, he adds a hardened edge to the midfield that we need and will take the pressure off Walsh and Dow to win their own ball so often. Not to mention his aerobic power that I’ve seen. At 450k for 4 years - this is good list management. Cmon man
Hewett will take his spot completely next season

It knocked down the bloody Pratt stand, totally gone.

So so lucky, there was no one walking on that footpath on chapel street, would have been horrible.
You don't mean the entire Pratt stand do you? surely not..

I get it, Hewett is a solid player but nothing really more than that...it's probably true a midfielder like that is someone clubs typically draft and develop, rather than recruit from other clubs. We probably wouldn't need to poach him if we had developed our many young mids properly.

But he's a FA and costs around $450k so I won't begrudge it.

2nd in their B & F in 2019, injured most of 2020.....

"Solid"....arguably their best in their narrow loss to GWS a few weeks back. He's a fine player.

Who on our list is 'solid'?

Depends on your view of list needs. I don't know enough about Hewett to say whether he is a good pick up or not however if we were confident on Hewett, then the potential consideration is why we would keep Ed on the list for another year - particularly if the view is that they will Ed and Hewett will occupy similar role son the team (and someone like Cottrell could probably develop into that role).

Whilst Ed might be able to play in a different position in the team ie high half forward, there is limited long term benefit of doing so.

Footy Classified
Lappin - Offered 5 year deal at Geelong
Scarlett - Possibly taking a year off

Kingsley still in the race...
Both Voss and Kingsley presented in person to Cook and the panel today..

Who ever misses out on the job, may have to be assistant coach because we are quickly running out of options

Ditto about jack Steele

You can also add that Hewett would be better then any player SOS could get to the club through free agency and draft never landed big fish or above average players like Williams and Saad

Better than any player he could get through draft?

So you're telling me Hewett's better than Weiters, Charlie, and H?

Who was the last very talented footballer the swans let go. Just let go for nothing... They don't do that.

They actually have traded a lot of good talent out for unders over the years.

Nankervis, Mumford to name two.

They're only doing it with Hewett due to their salary cap.

Hewett is a good footballer and a nice addition, but he's not a better footballer than either Williams or Saad.

Martin is a better footballer as well.
