Offer pick 6 to Freo for Cerra.
If they say no, then tell them pick 6 is now off the table, Cerra will walk into the PSD and Freo will get nothing.
Freo then relents.
They had their chance.
They are then told to take the second rounder, take it or leave it.
Every year we read this suggestion. It's not realistic.

The more I read about him, I see the same attributes and knocks on him as one Kristian Jaksch.

I don't think Voss would go for any talented but flaky/unprofessional types...and I'd be 100% with him on that.

Everything he and Cook have said so far indicates they value hard work/reliability/professionalism over talent. It's how you change our culture, finally.
Cook said talent only takes you so far and that he wants to bring in good people. I'm not sure players like Brander and Ladhams fit that profile.

Walking Cerra to the ND is however viable and realistic. Only danger is Hawks.

Yes, but we would still have No.6.
But can the Hawks afford him?
I would rather get a very good young player for next to nothing than paying too much for Cerra on 700K?
I doubt we will be playing in the finals next year.
We have over paid for Williams and McGovern.
We also have Cripps for the next 6 years on big money.
Which idiot signed him up for that?

I don’t even think Hawthorn would be an issue as I don’t see them drafting a player that doesn’t want to play for them. This might be one of those rare years where we can walk a player like Cerra to the ND and not be in any danger of anyone drafting him. Collingwood and North are selecting Daicos and Horne-Francis, Gold Coast and Adelaide wont draft a player from Fremantle who wants to come to Victoria and Hawthorn won’t draft a 22 year old (in a week) who doesn’t want to play for them.

Bur none of this will matter as clubs rarely walk a player to the draft. Not a good look.

Agree. Highly doubt Cerra goes to PSD or ND. Only happens when a club is particularly obstropolous. Cerra will say he wants a good deal for Freo to leave on good terms. Freo wants a fair deal as do we. It will get done if Cerra nominates us.

Won't happen. If we commit to a player we won't then take a punt that he will be there at our pick.

6 will probably go to Freo with some later picks possibly involved. We are not in "get a talented young kid in the draft" mode in the near term.

Ask them about Brander

Its been well documented over here that he wants to play key back or forward but is has been played on a wing where he has struggled. Most regard him as promising albeit very inconsistent and cannot consolidate his spot but they are are disappointed he is leaving and assume it’s down to him he wanting to go home and/or due to salary cap problems.

Interestingly my mate who used to coach at WC reckons there’s some big problems at the club at the moment between Simmo and the senior players stemming from commitment/priorities issues associated with being away from home due to Covid. Problem is they are limited in what they can do to fix these issues because Simmo contracted on big $$$ until 2024 and the likes Nic Nat, Gov, Shue, Yeo, Kelly and Gaff all have big $$$ contracts and are becoming injury prone as they age.

Fixed your post.

Everyone seems determined to treat the draft as no/low risk.

Patrick Lipinski has officially requested a trade, reports The Age, and wants to join Collingwood.

It’s been expected that the Bulldogs midfielder would request a move to the Magpies but he informed the club of his decision on Monday.
