Yes… only 1 player refused a pay cut.
Thanks B70...are we to assume the pay cuts are also linked to finding the coin for Walsh's contract?

Excellent.
Just sit tight for a few more days until they start requesting a second rounder instead of a first.
Dont forget they've also missed two years of development to start with. They have already missed out on a lot of football

Huge sacrifice and buy-in from Cripps, Walsh, Harry, Weiters, Curnow and one other to take pay cuts to fit in Cerra. All should be Carlton champions for years to come. We are lucky to have these guys in the navy blue.
Hopefully this sets the tone for a cultural shift at the club. All six players plus Cerra have backed the direction of the club under Sayers and Voss. Now we just need to get better and win some flags.
Not going to be popular here, given that many see Sayers as having mastered the walk on water trick, but I find this a tad cringeworthy and the second time I've seen this "destination club" intro.
Prefer to see him settle into this job rather than "troll opposition supporters" from the get go. I'm a passionate supporter but I would not be declaring this so early in the piece given our recent history. Regardless of destination club status we have a way to go before we prove worthy of that tag.
I've said before and will say it again we have handled this whole issue very badly in my opinion, I did not want Voss and I also believe that his appointment has zero to do with being a destination club, I reckon he was a fair way from the top of our hit list when we sacked Teague.
I am, however, very bullish about our future given our best trade period since Judd and we have, IMO, set things up to such an extent that Voss has far more chance of succeeding than Teague ever had with a board that has pinned their colours to him and a list improvement that is, on face value, exceptional. Anything other than well into finals will be disappointing to me.
I can happily do without tweets like this though, they just look a bit juvenile for mine.
Dare I ask who that might have been?
According to channel 7 they have (and backed up by B70 without naming names)A few of those guys only just signed new contracts...did they really take pay cuts so soon?
Looking for pick 1 in 2023.That’s pretty insane, 26 is still prime as an AFL footballer. They are going a HARD rebuild if this is true.
If a Mitchell type in terms of quality was being thrown away/they pay part of the salary, I would say we need to do some due diligence on it. But for the most part I don’t see us getting involved. Freo look like they’re going to be the busy ones for the rest of the period.
MuchIs Wingard better than Fisher?

This really worries me. The fact that we needed people to take pay cuts to fit Cerra's contract says we're very tight on salary cap.
Rowell, on potential is two first rounders and a player. Not sure we have that capital. We’d be negligent if we didn’t throw everything at trying to get him to the club he loves. We should already be taking to his management and planting the seed.
wtfMost of us thing of Wingard as a useful half-forward who can run through the middle. That isn't how he played this year. He is an elite midfielder who can hit the scoreboard. We should absolutely be looking at him if we can get him for a fair price.

He's closer to Walsh than Fisher.

Are we talking actual pay cuts? Have they actually signed a renegotiated contract at a lower total value? Or are we just talking about them pushing back money from next year to later in their contracts so we could front end Cerras deal?
Don’t get me wrong, even the later is a show of faith, but it seems more realistic that this is what has happened rather then actually having contracts redone. Surely their managers would be very against them reducing overall contracts, given it would affect their earnings too.
Wingard has his faults that's for sure, the thing with him is that he's a genuine match winner. I believe we really only have one atm, that's Charlie Curnow. Big H is to some extent but I see him more of a steady player you can rely on more and more by doing his job. Curnow and Wingard are the type of players that trigger big momentum swings. When they're on they are impossible to stop.
I wouldn't say no to Wingard for a 2nd rounder.
