You think if a club offered us a second round pick we'd do something other than laugh at them?

Good lord.

He's played like 15 games since the 2018 season, how much value do you think he really has? The blue tinted glasses are clouding your judgment.

I never said we'd accept or entertain a second round pick.

Thanks for that. I hadn't noticed he'd been out for two years.

The point you countered initially is that it would be a waste of time for clubs to offer a second round pick for Charlie. I would have thought that's fairly obvious.

Your desire to talk down our players at every opportunity is getting really, really tiresome.

The concern is... I'm not sure many of us have.

Don't get me wrong, I think he has MASSIVE potential, but we keep hearing that word ad nauseum at Carlton. Someone needs to deliver on it.

Needs a rocket up his backside.

Not sure that’s completely correct. If we can get a 2022 3rd back in the same deal (incl multi team deal) we are able to do it. I specifically recall a club doing exactly this a couple of years ago.

Expansion clubs don't count in that equation ... nether do Hawthorn ;)

Wingard is a player I irrationally despise. Would take me a lot of time and therapy to warm to him.

He can play, though. Sometimes.
In my group of friends, we call it the "punchable face". He's 'that guy' that has the 'punchable face' of an opposition team whereby if you were (as a player) to snot the bloke, you should get games in you favour. They get rubbed out. You stay in the side for the same amount he's rubbed out for.

And when I say this, I by no means mean they are not good players, they might be one of those players that gets under your skin for some reason.

Previous nominations for punchable faces, Toby Greene, Stephen Milne, Hayden Ballantyne, Tony Libratore, Mason Cox.

All in good jest gentlemen.....

Seriously?

I never knew Tom Browne had such an influence on people.

Na mate, explain. How are we going to be able to cater for the influx of players?

I would be really happy to have this explained to me because I'm excited about the next season or so but worried about 2023/2024.

Cheers

DeGoey or Wingard - or both. Same same to me. But both of em can foosball.

Wingard has 20 possies and less than one goal a game over his career ... he is the epitome of menopause .. has hot flushes and that's about it ...

Soooo. I’m not across all things AFL is the cap squeeze thing we have going a Covid thing. A lot of clubs, at least two anyway, are having fire sales atm.

If it is an AFL mandated salary cut, when/ if live returns to something resembling precovid life; what will happen? Players get their old salaries back?

Surely the AFL should add a little extra for the accumulated lost wages and opportunity cost that come with a reduction in income.

Absolutely nothing wrong with refusing to take a pay cut.

Especially for any player who has only come on board in recent times and found the environment not what they were promised.

Takes time to really become part of the fabric.

I wonder how much of this player pay cut scenario has had to do with Cook and the culture changes that he and Voss have spoken about. It’s super impressive for players to take a pay cut to bring in a player (Cerra) in itself but even more impressive if it is a change in culture thing.

We know Geelong has some different policies in place about player payments and it makes me wonder what Cook has brought over.

Either way and for whatever reason it is an encouraging start to this new culture change we have heard about. Between this and seeing the players really get behind Doc and shaving their heads I just love what is coming out of the club at the moment.

The Chad seems very smug to me, but at the right price I'd have him at the Blues in a heartbeat

I understand what you’re saying because I felt the same. A guy I work with is very close mates with Shaun Burgoyne who is, in turn, very close with Wingard. Apparently Wingard is a great bloke off the field.

Taking cuts could because of many reason.. But let's hope its not salary cap pressure as sides who haven't played finals in numerous seasons and the core of the side is 25 or less is an anchor you don't recover from .. I would trust Cook come in went over the payment structures and straightened it out with some honest conversations as he did when he entered geelong ..

I'm not convinced his best position is mid/forward. For the Suns his most consistent footy was played at half back as a loose interceptor. I know with 6-6-6 that role has changed, but that was probably where he played his best footy.

His numbers have dropped off markedly since his Suns' days....when they should have improved as he is in his prime now.

Who's fault is that? Part the Club's, part injury, part his?

Need to be addressed. We need a lot more from Jack...

I have to be honest and say this is the most satisfying off season since KB said Richmond was in the box seat for Chris Judd.

Also Tony Lynn 15 is a national treasure, whom deserves mod status.

Michael Vossy Voss as coach has really grown on me in recent weeks , I am Elmercited for next season and I am not ashamed to admit it !

Thanks mate and go City!

I have always thought of myself more of the “consultant” type. Just come in, throw some ideas around and then let someone else do the hard work. I will leave the modding to the hard workers as there is no way I could even keep up!
