McGov wouldn't be welcome at Adelaide Crows. Burnt too many bridges and doesn't fit their age profile or needs. Not really a need for Port Adelaide. If he wants to go to Adelaide he may not have a lot of choices. I love him as a defender, especially the vision to see targets and the ability to hit them, but he isn't on the park enough to have other clubs clamour over him.

We are casting our net wide.

Going fishing and shaking some trees.

A club is in disarray at the moment with young guns wanting to leave.

Common knowledge & plastered all over the media/social media.

That Club is from Arden St!

If Port can get him as a free hit they might take him. We'd probably give him away for nothing if we could get his contract off our books. I don't think we'd be willing to pay any of it. I also don't think they would pay it in full and he would probably have to renegotiate with them at a lower rate to go there.

Could use the money to get Amon across as a free agent. Winning.

I remember when this thread felt like the only one to read at this time of year. Ten rounds in, finals out the window, and hoping against hope that the following season would be different.
It's the one area of our club that has slid: BLUEMOURS! two months in between. Pull up your socks people.

McGov likely to request move back to SA for family reasons (partner).
Hope he can get back on the park this year for his sake and ours.

Not sure l would believe that, he has taken the big $ and delivered very little mainly due to injuries, but he definitely owes Carlton two good years before anything like that was considered and is still under contract.

Burnt bridges work both ways.

I'd be steering clear of Hopper. Can certainly play but hasn't ever really developed into the player they thought he might early in his career. I don't think we need him.

We should recruit Hopper....
  • A GWS academy recruit from 2015
  • Recruited from a small town in NSW
  • Was bid on lower than expected and picked up cheaply by GWS
  • A big-bodied mid, suited to playing inside
  • Been a bit up and down but now looking the goods
  • Might be squeezed out by GWS salary cap
Oh wait!!! We already have one of those...

So Falcon is Tom Browne?
Reads article. Takes key details out of article to make it less useful and like a weird riddle. Change the perspective to 'we'. Post.

"After this weekend we are hoping to go into the bye having won a large number of games. It's not 8 or 10, but it's a large number."

Needs: KPD, ruck/fwd, specialist wing

Zero point chasing inside mids. Just draft one so they're hitting "AFL-ready" in 3ish years rather than expecting to play from day one.

Zero point chasing a small or even medium forward, we're loaded for options there too.

Whitfield interests me insofar as he's contracted for another 5 years, playing poorly this season, but fits a need and has a history of good footy behind him. If he's not vibing at GWS, or the new coaching group want to move past him, then maybe there is an opportunity to get him cheap. Cheap is probably still a first rounder though, maybe with GWS quietly footing some of his salary.

Will reserve the right to revisit that opinion later in the year though, because with another 10 games of experience and confidence, I'm excited to see how LOB and Cottrell are looking when finals roll around.
Needs: KPF!!!!!!!

We need a key defender, a ruck, and a specialist wing as well, but if Harry and Charlie go down we have nothing. Jack Silvagni. That's it.

We need a KPF or a tall utility (Tomlinson or Blicavs; someone who can play at both ends) to serve as backup ruck, KPF and KPD. Our problem with KPD's is that our backups are injured; only without Jones were we actually bereft of depth in the position. We actually have enough if he's there with McDonald and Young; obviously, we need the players to step into the position, but the need is not so pressing now unless list management wants away with McDonald.

But we genuinely need another tall forward, someone to serve as a CHF should both Charlie and Harry go down at once.
