Everyone wants to be at Carlton because they don't listen to the media and know we're nearly there.

Do we rate Lewis Young? Will he be best 22?

I just realised, does that suggest that Kemp will move into the middle? (Lewis Young trade request)

Austin is targeting all the right types, it would appear, for very reasonable prices.
Hewett as RFA and Cerra as trade, massive ticks, immediately make our midfield magnitudes better.
Young as trade, immediately secures our KPD depth somewhat, can play the role Marchbank was supposed to play immediately, or be groomed to take over from Jones.

I'm not in the camp that we need an experienced ruckman. TDK is tracking along fine with another pre-season, Pittonet is very handy depth, Mirkov is developing. Waste of a list spot, IMO.

Agree with your last paragraph provided we get muscle on Mirkov. Guy is made from balsa wood.

Young does not seem good in any position. Feels like 13 games in 2 seasons and delist

Jones goes back with the flight and knocks himself out in the prelim after playing every game that season with Weitering.

Young comes in for his first game of the year fresh as daisy, we are ahead by 3 points in the final quarter of the grandfinal when a 35m snap comes from the opposition out of the pack, our hearts are in our mouth, but we are saved by Lewis Young who takes a chest mark on the goal line. He goes back and shanks a 20m kick straight to the opposition as the siren goes, we are devastated.

"WTF was that Young?!" the crowd screams

The opposition player goes back to take his kick, but the field umpire is calling for the ball. There is confusion and deliberation as the three field umpires go to discuss something with the goal umpire. Young has gone back through the goals but kicked it back into play from through the behind post.

Players from both sides are pleading with the umpire, no one at the ground knows what is happening.

The goal umpire signals a point.

Carlton win by 2 points, Lewis Young goes down in folklore, never plays another game.

No need for ruck back up. Need to get games into TDK and Pitto is good back up. We also have Mirkov as depth

Mirkov is miles off it.

We need 3 players that can play ruck, and with Levi gone, Young is a very clever pick up. Will be groomed as a key back but can swing into the ruck if needed as he did at the Dogs

Also regarding our list management, we are actually managing the list smartly by making such a move.

Instead of chasing types we already have an abundance of, we have targeted positions that are not completely filled with depth (KPD/KPF) or that are going to improve key areas in the 22 (a dynamic mid with good movement patterns and kicking ability, and a defensive type mid with ability to hurt on offense when we hold possession - these types of mids can burn the ball a lot but we’ve got one in who isn’t in that basket as we’ve read and seen)

Austin is taking responsibility to build the list properly. And whether you like it or not, last year he did the same with Saad and Williams (yet I’m waiting on Zac to show he was worth getting - showed signs late in the year, has all the tools in his locker to be a top player to be honest)

I’m really happy with what we are planning to do in the next 10 days or so

Lets see what Mirkov looks like after he has done an AFL preseason (plus the extra 4 months of weights after he was out injured)

22 years old, is perfect KPP depth and will come cheap. Not sure how this can be anything but a positive
Doomsayer incoming.......

Lewis Young best game versus Carlton

Just want to give a shout-out to those who had mentioned Young a few days ago. Whilst I sometimes take Bluemours and some trade suggestions with a grain of salt, others raise awareness. I wouldn't have thought of Young a couple of weeks ago, but when news is announced, this one makes real sense...

A rebuild will stagnate based on top 10 picks like Dow, SPS, Setterfield (pick 6 originally and we bid 5) and O'Brien not delivering to expectations. I'm not picking on individuals, but collectively the failure of this group (or at least some) to "come on", is a big part of why we finished 13th in year 6 of the rebuild.
Sounds to me like the club failed to develop its youth. Funny how they were showing signs under Bolton when playing their preferred positions and getting games, and then essentially got tossed aside under Teague, expected to improve with no official games to play in for a lot of that time.

We’ll end up losing a lot of that talent for pennies, but it’s not an indictment on their talent, rather the clubs ability to maximize it. Development has been a big issue for the club for a long time now.
