I’ll say this again.
Jones retired, mid contract. Settlements were made, payouts agreed upon by all parties. Those payment do not disappear from our salary cap.
I say this to reiterate the point that he cannot simply walk to another club without Carlton receiving compensation or agreeing to de register him.
Carlton did not impose the mandates. Whether you personally agree with the mandate or not, it is a moot point.
They were made by the governing body of the sport, not by our club.
There is no ill feelings towards Jones from the club, merely we have moved on. We’ve reinvested in that position, have plans to strengthen our depth using any compensation we get, and have a bit to do with what salary cap space we have left.
Remove the name from the scenario for a moment and you realise a 32 year old, having spent 12month out of the game doesn’t fit within our future list management strategy.
Liam with always be loved and respected by the club for the way he turned his career around, nobody wanted it to end between us this way. But both parties hands were tied by the power that be and both parties have amicably moved on.
Well, I didn't see any part about whether there was any love in your future, so probably dropped the ball there.Doesn't get any clearer or more informative than this.

Our incompetence and corruption = AFL have it in for us.
The issue most Carlton supporters have is in regards to he severity of the sanctions. Specifically the draft and trade sanction effectively bumping us out of the draft for multiple years and not allowing us to trade back in.I was responding to someone who said that the dogs would not have been penalised as heavily as us.
My response was that I think we were way too heavily penalised but we had two recent priors for salary cap infringements so the afl could say (with some justification) that we were recidivists, and as a result increase the fine.
Not sure why you cherry picked that little bit?

Well they did fine * $2 mill, kick them out of the finals, strip them of their first two draft picks the following year and one the next year and fined and/or suspended who they deemed to be the key players in the saga at the end of 2013.The issue most Carlton supporters have is in regards to he severity of the sanctions. Specifically the draft and trade sanction effectively bumping us out of the draft for multiple years and not allowing us to trade back in.
They would never have done that to a lesser club. Look at th drugs scandal. They let * have the pick #1 as reward for it. Even though they are still claiming they did.nothing wrong.
We know we did wrong and deserved a whack. It's been stated adnuaseum both here and elsewhere. I thought bringing that up in a discussion about Carlton being treated differently was on the nose.
The discussion was whether they would have done the same to a different club in the same situation. The answer is no.

So was it medical? Or was it just a personal stance against vaccines?I’ll say this again.

yeah, luckily no-one is........So was it medical? Or was it just a personal stance against vaccines?
Because when he left the club he said is was for ‘personal reasons’. That doesn’t sound like he had a medical issue preventing him from taking the vaccine. It sounds like he just didn’t want the vaccine.
At the time it happened, the club said: ’We have been in constant dialogue with Liam in recent months and allowing him the time he needed to make an informed decision regarding his playing career.’
So, they tried to educate him and couldn’t get through. Pretty clear cut, if you ask me.
I'm not going to get into the "does it exist or doesn't it" debate, but there is a flaw in your reasoning here. It's based on the premise that people always act rationally or logically. Something that is difficult to justify based on observed human behaviour.I hear this from Carlton fans. I've bought into it in the past.
I hear this from * fans.
Ultimately, the last twenty years has much more to do with both clubs being corrupt and incompetent - and varying degrees of both at various times - than anything else.
I'm no doubting that there's people on the inside that hate one or both clubs.
But what motivation does the AFL - on the whole - have to keep one or both clubs down when it's been proven throughout the history of the league that when one or both clubs are successful the competition - again as a whole - benefits tremendously.
It doesn't make logical sense to me.
No we don't.We get marquee games because of who we are, we get a lot of good s**t because of who we are......
Carlton - ?No we don't.
We get large crowded games because of who we are and an incredibly loyal supporter base.
We don't get:
What marquee games are you referring to?
- Anzac Day
- Good Friday
- Dreamtime at the 'G
- (and this year) Opening game of the season
Carlton - ?
Collingwood - Anzac Day & Easter Monday
******** - Anzac Day & Dreamtime @ the G
Geelong - Easter Monday
Hawthorn - Easter Monday
Melbourne - Anzac Day Eve
North Melbourne - Good Friday
Richmond - Anzac Day Eve & Dreamtime @ the G
StKilda - ?
Western Bulldogs - Good Friday
Think us and Saints are the only ones in Victoria without a "marquee" match. Not that we need them to get a crowd or anything but interesting nonetheless

Ill agree that we dont get as much as we used to in a few areas, alot of that due to our team being really poor the last 5+ years. No we don't.

I wouldn't consider the majority of those to be marquee/much watch etc just because it lands on a particular date.Carlton - ?

The concept is a marketing exercise and really, neither the Blues or Saints have been overly good at marketing themselves.
Geelong and * get the "country" game that the AFL push.
Sorry edited. Meant Queens Birthday not Easter MondayCollingwood and Melbourne also get the Queens Birthday game, but I’m not sure what Easter Monday marque game Collingwood participates in.
There’s an argument we get a marque game in the form of the season opener against Richmond.
