Has to be one more surprise player we go after, hoping it is a Geelong player with Cooks connection to the club. Menegola would be a good tough option to bring across

NO MORE TRADES WITH GEELONG!!!

This trade period for us

It’s a no for me with Hunter…

Purely on the fact, we look certain to bring in Acres and how many wingers do we want on the list… Acres, LOB & Cottrell… With adequate cover of Fisher, Walsh, E.Curnow, Carroll & Cerra…

Would much prefer to target Acres & Hunter types who are in our age demographic and who not only have the experience of big finals games, but have performed in the big game environment…

The you need x amount of players over 29-30 and the Geelong model is flawd IMO… You need leadership and experience, which you can also get from younger guys…

Geelong loaded up with mature talent for years before they pinched a flag… Now they are going all in on young talent Pick 7, 25 & Bowes, Henry, Bruhn and Hayes…

Agree. I feel also if LoB survives another two years he will be a hunter Type.

Regional Victoria
I'll bet he ends up back at Geelong for "lifestyle" reasons sometime in the future

And some people actually believe Geelong just do things better than everyone else. I don't believe it. Players (and VFL coaches) come home to their families, the surfcoast lifestyle, the farm etc.

They hide talent in those Western Leagues, with family consent (which parent would not want their son to stay...please!!!)

And those who escape make their way back (Dangerfield, Cameron, Dalhaus, Bruen??? etc etc)

There was talk of Walsh going back before he signed

Their location is the magnet...but of course, it becomes a self perpetuating disussion because this attraction then means their list is filled with good players and they have success, which then gives the club more ammunition to provide players wanting to play for them

PS. And let's not forget the charmed run they have had with father-sons, and the fact that they have the MOST loaded home ground advantage of any Victorian team.

The part that we’ve said all along we’re going to the draft…

I’m with you I’d like a Gunston on our list… But, you’d imagine that the team that picks him up would be expecting to win a flag in the next 2-3 years… We haven’t even made the 8 with this list…
We are now primed to win a flag within 3 years, my guess 2025 is the year we are a serious contender for the premiership. We are on track, we were never winning one before then with the gutting of the list we did. The list will be in its collective prime.

First sentence. Gunston is a free agent, an unrestricted one, he does not stoop us from meeting our objective of going to the draft.

Second. If the club isn’t expecting to win a flag next year, let alone one in the next two or three, then we are in trouble.

Because we need to be looking externally for fresh ideas to bring in.

I love Simmo, but he was never a part of an outfit that achieved any success.

We need winners
I don't want any of our recently retired players as coaches at the club be that Simmo, Kreuze, Betts, or anyone else.

Can someone explain to me why we’ve put setters on hold til after the trade period if we aren’t bringing in another player from another club?
