I’m suprised we aren’t trying to strengthen our bottom 6 players on the list by bringing in serviceable B/B+ types. Whilst we arguably have the second or third top 6 players in the league, one could argue our bottom 6 are close to bottom 3 worst- seems like it would be minimal risk/outlay to do it ?

Next year our bottom six will be kids like Motlop and Durdin, Owies, TDK, and a Newman/Boyd/LOB or Cotters...

Reckon Durdin and Motlop may well show big leaps in output given the game time they got this year....

I'd say our bottom six are middle of the pack, trending higher...

Can someone explain to me why we’ve put setters on hold til after the trade period if we aren’t bringing in another player from another club?

Pretty sure we offered a contract to him, on reduced $$$ and years to his liking… He might be holding out for a better offer during trade week…

Owies,Newman, Cotters, LOB aren’t middle of the road. They are barely AFL level players. So many holes we could try and fill - Eg mid sized marking forward . Pies have a whole team of them, we have SOS. Game plan of just kicking it long to Harry and Charlie needs to evolve .

When I think of Sydney role players, I always used to lump Newman, Hewett, Fox and Cunningham in together.

Cunningham only played 10 games this year and is 29 years old, so would cost virtually nothing. He has played 161 games so the experience would be handy. I'm not sure he'd leave a fringe position at Sydney for a fringe position at Carlton however.

He's quick and versatile. Can play forward, back or on a wing. I'd probably prefer him over Sholl if we are still looking that way.

Disagree on Newman as I think he had an excellent year before he got injured but I take your point. The bottom 3 or 4 in our team week in week out are probably a bit weaker than our opponents. I think Acres coming in clearly takes care of one of those spots but also players like Cunningham / Marchbank / Williams / Pitto / Kennedy / Gov / Martin / Honey / Boyd back from injury will help better fill those 3 or 4 spots at the bottom end.

I think we had 5 in the AA squad this year with Doc extremely stiff to miss out so the top end is as good as any team in the comp. The challenge is to get those C graders up to A-B level.

I really hope a couple of Carroll / Honey / Dow / Philp / Kemp jump up and surprise a few this year - plus whoever we get at pick 10. Also hoping we can upgrade our pick 28 to a first rounder. We're after quality not quantity.
