Any thoughts on Ratugolea?
Being spoken of as potentially involved in the Bruhn deal to GWS.

Forward who has been used in VFL defence and also ruck.
Better fit than Soldo as depth?

If the talk is that he'll be used as part of the Bruhn deal though, then he's probably open to a GWS move and there's probably no value for Geelong/GWS in us getting involved. GWS also have some pretty sketchy tall stocks, so he may be in line for some senior games up there which would make the move more appealing.

I’m not pulling the pin on him I think he is a great role player but not sure he saves a game of footy. I hope I’m wrong.

Every premiership side needs at least 5 Lewis Young’s. More than played his role this year and has cemented himself in our best 22 hopefully for a long time. Premiership sides are not built off 22 superstars.

Young is fine - more than handy to build our defence around.

Just needs to get the odd panic merchant kicks and the double grabbing out of his game, needs to become more one-touch. With more upper body strength plonked next to Weitering I could def see him part of a premiership defence (who defend like maniacs, all 7 of them).

If Durdin comes on and Marchbank has a good run at it that's a pretty hand defense we shouldn't lose too much sleep over.

As opposed to the 0 times Pitto has done it?

He's not exactly a world beater forward but he is obviously better at it than Pittonet. 0.33 goals per game for Soldo vs 0.12 for Pitto, 16 goals in 49 games vs 5 in 41.

Still not sure I'd want him over Pittonet though, while better up forward it's not exactly a needle moving improvement holistically and Pitto has shown the impact he makes to our clearance game.

OK - read my post. Materially better.

If we're wanting an upgrade on Pittonet because he doesn't do enough forward of centre, Soldo isn't the answer. He may do more, but he also doesn't do enough and he's certainly not someone you'd classify as a forward/ruck.

Hang on... Are we talking about the 23 year old 201cm Lewis Young that just played 19 games in his first season at our club, after only playing 24 games for the dogs when not used exclusively as a defender.
Was in top 10 for intercept per game and led the league in one percenters... including the game against the Dee's where he had 25 one % (equal AFL record) and on top of the 12 intercept possessions, that's 37 contests he either halved or won outright..
All this despite our defensive stocks being heavily depleted for the entire season?
I reckon we give him another year or 4 before writing him off.
I honestly think he can be an all Australian one year. If he did what he was doing in the later part of the year for a full season (which I think he’s capable of doing) he can make one easy.

When was the last time a team had 4 all Australian quality key positions players?

You forgot the stat for the 1 x header in the MFC game….

Not every player needs to be a superstar. He showed enough to suggest he is going to be a very good role player moving forward. He has a solid set of hands, neat kick and can stand up defensively albeit He is not the most physical type of defender.

Nathan Broad is a premiership KPD and we are complaining about Young?

Where did you hear that?
Paul Barbazza on Twitter a couple days ago which a few people have reposted since. But I think it's been taken a bit out of context, "locked away" as in not going anywhere, but Harry hasn't actually signed anything just yet.

But Barbazza's mail is usually good, so I expect him to stay a blue for many years to come! (not like we were expecting him to leave anyway)

He posted half an hour ago “hope my mail is right”.

And he's actually a good user of the ball, by foot especially!

He's criminally underrated here. Going to be elite defender and serviceable backup ruck.

Last year half of the Carlton posters were dunking on Pitto, I posted similar statistics and people shut me down telling me that I don't understand the ruck position.

I really rate him. Yes, he isn't Gawn, Jackson, Grundy or English around the ground but he is a hulking human whose effective hitouts are EXTREMELY effective.

Pitt is clearly our best Ruckman. Its not even a contest at this point.
