Phillipou looks too similar to Carroll IMO.

Would rather draft for need with some of the players available in our current range.

Hotton looks like a neat player, but he’d surely slip into the second round though might not make it to our pick.
Phillipou will be a star, 192cm /83 kg mid- fwd, versatile, beautiful kicking action, good aerial ability, athletic, clean hands , can hit the scoreboard.
i‘d be really stoked , if we could snaffle Mattaes

I reckon we will be looking at a forward with an early pick, I still think we lack that forward who has speed, xfactor, ability to kick goals out of nothing, plenty of attitude, plenty of competitiveness, natural forward craft etc. A forward mid type would be ideal, but not super important. We have a group who are ok but no one apart from Motlop really standing out. You add the next Papley, Cameron, Stengle, Heeney, Bolton, Greene, Breust, Pickett, Ginnivan etc to the Carlton list, it's something we don't have, it's the next hole in the team after the wing has been plugged up. You find a player who is a definite best 22 selection on the forward flank or pocket and that takes us forward IMO.

IMO our forward line lacks attitude and a player who can really light a spark and fire things up there as well as having an impact when it counts.

You can't have too many level headed well spoken nice guys in a team. When the team runs out and finds themselves just going through the motions and is in need of someone to create a bit of heat and liven thing sup we don't have that player. A lot of good sides have a forward who can do this and we don't really. Silvagni kind of.

Get Jack Martin fit.

Funny about that Arr0w as most scribes seem to think that he is up there with Daicos....what is it that you think he lacks?

Many of his possessions are just hack kicks forward, doesn't free his arms enough in congestion to release a dangerous handball.

Too many times I see him kick the ball off the ground, rather than putting his head over the ball, gather and distribute

Lions may think he is a Bailey Smith type, but I see him more as a Jack Steven type

Will play earlyish, but others have more upside longterm

Phillipou appears a much higher quality prospect than Carroll with the potential to be an absolute elite prospect with the skills, athleticism, tank and x-factor that can play almost anywhere - think Bont/Fyfe type.

Has a seriously high ceiling and with a late Dec birthday, he is also just days from being eligible for next years draft. Massive upside but higher risk than someone like Clark

I don't think North drafting JHF at #1 last year had anything to do with having the prestige of having the first overall pick on their list.

I think it had everything to do with them wanting to demonstrate that he is who they wanted more than anybody in the draft.

I believe that they knew their football club was going to be an incredibly hard sell on a South Australian kid who wanted to stay at home but realistically understood that he was the consensus top pick that was openly available. I believe North thought that if they had have drafted Daicos that it would have sent the wrong message "Look, we wanted someone else not you but here you are" and that what has happened would have been even more inevitable.

Thus, they attempted to avoid the inevitable but their club was such a shambles in 2022 that they just couldn't give the lad a stable environment to establish himself as an AFL player.

More like overrated because of his name...
But at this stage x7 years into his career and he's at his best an adequate player...

I like JSOS as much as the next person and hope he's the one that becomes the player we need, love how he gives his all each week...
But also like to call it as I see it...

As a goal kicker and a ruckman, which has been his role this last 2 year, he hasn't excelled at either...
We are in need of another forward of forward/ruck because JSOS isn't cutting it yet...

Agree he should just play forward, if he doesn't increase his goal kicking, he could be looking at stints in the VFL...
He will have competition for his spot, TDK (Curnow 3rd tall), Kemp, any drafted tall forwards and maybe McGovern if we need the defender spot
I'm glad I'm not the only one ..someone actually agrees with me for a change ..I will trade him ..lacks consistency ..plays one good game in every 6 matches ..doesnt do enough ..yeh ok gives effort does the one percentages and just kicks the odd goal ..takes the odd mark ..no impact on the game ..

Absolutely agree, high time that, Martin , Williams and Gov al three players earn their bacon, they’ve been cuddled far to long, time to return some yield for our investment.
Tis year had they performed in the second half of the season only, we would have finished top 4 easily.
None can match nor stop Charlie & Harry in flight.

Some youngsters just can’t handle the glamour, focus, constant attention that comes with the expectations.
Mature & Professional prodigious talents like our Sam Walsh are as rare as hens teeth.

I'm not convinced JHF can put his ego behind.

Seems to be something extra.

Bailey Smith and Toby Greene in the same off-season.

Going to be hard to squeeze Petracca in at this rate

Hahahah Toby Greene! I love this place

Ryan O'Keefe, Brendon Goddard, and Matthew Pavlich to Carlton.

Ten year contracts for all.

Confirmed.

Jusr as likely as TGreene.

100% agree with all this. I thought Hewett beat him in the Vic Metro v WA game and Tsatsas and McKenzie were more influential when it mattered in the Vic Metro v Vic Country game.

I certainly wouldn’t be taking or bidding on him at No.1. That said there is no consensus No.1 this year especially with Wardlaw getting injured. If I’m North’s list manager I’m taking Wardlaw or Cadman.
