Hewett is an interesting prospect. Reminds me so much of Cerra and has the exact same kicking action.

Really clean player too.

Hewett reminds me more of LDU than Cerra as a player and the kicking action.

Either way he would be a great get especially if we trade out Setters and Dow.

Also unlike Sheezel (who I like a lot) it’s likely he’s still available at our first pick.

We could then take George with our second if he is still available or a tall.

Interesting point.

With Setterfield departing and Dow still a possibility to leave maybe we do opt to shore up our midfield depth by bringing in a mid at Pick 10.

Certainly no shortage of options available in that range.

Pick 10 + F1 (13?) probably gets us to the pick 5-6 range which I still think is too late for Sheezel. But even if he was still available then I'm not really a fan of trading away a F1st just to climb up the draft order, especially for a team like us who's contending.
I reckon it should get you pick 4.

Yes I know. They'd be the most likely trade partner I would have thought though, maybe GC with the Crows pick.
Agree Gws & Gold Coast would be most likely trading partner, Sheezel looks very good, but it be worth essentially 2 first round picks, if Austin make that call they must rate him very highly, you would think we would need a Future 2nd round pick coming back.

l would still back us in to get a good one at 10, if we could move up a few spots, we could most likely be assured of getting one of Philipou & Busslinger or Humphrey.

Agree with everything except Martin in that role. He is far too good overhead and more suited to a ‘taller’ role rather than bursting out of packs.

Zac Williams has all the attributes to play this role but I’m not sure he’ll be moved from defence, or if his body is up to it. Durdin has the foot skills but not sure he’s fit enough to be another Boomer Harvey.
Ideally, I’d rather Martin play as a utility but he needs to find some continuity in a specific role first. I think forward is his starting position but if he gets quiet because of the lack of supply then he and fisher are the first two players I’d throw in the middle to get involved.

As for Williams, I think he’s a mile off playing forward/mid. In fact, I think he’ll struggle finding a role in the 22 unless we move Newman or Doch on a wing or in the middle of the park. He’s discipline is shaky defensively and he can’t run out games at all as a mid/fwd. I hope I’m wrong though and he has a massive season next year. Durdin isn’t ready to expand that role just yet I reckon (especially if he’s coming back into the preseason after surgery) but that’s ideally the player he can be in the future if he’s up to it.

I take it we'd be looking at working with GWS ( 3,12,15,18) to give them 10 and next years first.
Lots still to play out. GWS would like to secure pick 1 from North, with North hoping to get pick 2 from west coast as part of the JHF trade.
My read on it is it will most likely be a move we look at on draft night assuming he's not taken in the first couple of picks.
If all goes to plan, Ashcroft (matched), Cadman and Wardlaw will be the first three, then we will dangle a carrot in an attempt to slot in.

The following is a hypothetical and not a rumour:
We trade (pick 10 + Setterfield + F1) for (pick 4 + F2.)
I would be happy with something like this.

I understand the appeal of moving up but I think it's a pipedream to trade 10 and F1 to get into the top 3.

I just think that the future pain that will inevitably bring will come back to bite us hard. Essentially 3+ parts for 1.

Personally, I'd rather split the pick on draft night and get Olli Hotton and another prospect. We could really solidify our young midfield for a decade if we make the right moves.

I know it's a hypothetical but that's a pipe dream. Unless we're getting more for Setters than what we (the board consensus) believe is possible?

Essentially 3 first round picks for 1 first rounder and a future second?… seems overs to me .. Setterfield will walk into most sides.. to be honest I think we’re undervaluing him a bit … he’s more than a set of steak knives .. rated by many as a top 3 pick In his draft year and we played him out of position this year …is not a winger and he will be very handy for whoever gets him. Pick 10 and a future 1st should be enough to slide up a few places in the draft surely ?

Just on the hypothetical there, isn’t Wednesday the last day you can trade players? then after that it’s just picks

I don’t really get the need, Shezeel isn’t at the top of any draft board I’ve seen, I’ve constantly read that after 5 the draft is very even and next years draft is strong.

So why would you trade out of next years 1st round to get a player ranked 2 or 3 in a draft year that’s supposedly weak?

Shezeel would not only need to be better than the player we would take at pick 10, he would also need to be better than the player we take next year at pick (hopefully 18)

In terms of probabilities, it doesn’t stack up to me
