You can. But there's usually a heavier price tag to FAs and surely we reduce our cap pressure rather than keeping it maxed out. Currently sitting 15th and cap tight, just doesn't feel like a FA is the right move
Everyone cap is nearly maxed out, or indeed over the max. It's in the rules this way. It's not as dramatic as a restrictions as some make out imo.

Also to a point you're right about FAs costing more they don't always. Players move on as FA for different reasons - one of the common ones is money, but it isn't the only one. For example, the Gresham rumours, I doubt we're offering him way more $ than St Kilda. Rather, it feels like a situation where both player and club probably could do with a fresh start. Gresham is floundering there, and St Kilda are probably ready to move on. Acres too was similar, was a cheap FA pickup because player and club (maybe more club in this situation) decided to move on and we got a starting 22 player for cheap.

I would agree a high end FA wouldn't be ideal, but there's no reason we can't keep building the list by targeting modest ones while also hitting the draft hard.

Respectfully disagree.

They won back to back games against the Bulldogs and Crows (Rnds 11 & 12) & no home ground advantage for the Suns as both games played in the NT.

They even beat the Tigers at Marvel earlier in the year.
That didn't really answer the bolded part, though.

They did look disinterested, flat, lackluster.. whatever superlative you want to use. They got hit by the bye bug very hard.

Not to knock our win because we still went and did it, and the same criticisms have been made about us for months so to take advantage of a team doing the same was good. But the Suns were about as flat as any team has ever been coming off the bye. They didn't really shake the rust until about half time vs the Hawks, so a good 6 qtrs of footy to get back. I can't really point to that win with any real enthusiasm as a sign things have turned for us or that it was a big win in context.

Yes they got those wins you mentioned, which were impressive (though the NT conditions are very much an advantage for them), but that wasn't the same team, mentally, that showed up to the MCG to play us.

Barass and Oscar Allen are the only two eagles worth chasing and neither will leave.

Oscar should be the next captain so there no chance he goes anywhere unless he requests a trade which is unlikely but there has been some talk over here that Barrass might be available as being 27 yo he won’t be part of their next flag side. He is under contract so it’ll costs a fair bit in trade capital but he would solve our lack of a second key defender.

Petrucelli for Fisher perhaps? noI Inspirational but definitely addresses speed, at a reasonable cost.
Realistically we won’t get much more for Fisher , he can join SPS our 1st& 2nd selections in 2016 draft reunited.
If WC want Fisher, I'd want their current pick 36 or 38. If we're getting Petrucelli (god-forbid) I think our current pick 60 is enough.

Hearing we are in to Petruccelle

St. Kilda supporters can't wait to rid of him.

Can't believe how one win goes to people's heads...

Have you folks forgotten that we had 10 players with 0 tackles at half time vs Collingwood and Essendon?

Lacking intensity against the rivals is unacceptable. That's the reality and a win against a mediocre Gold Coast effort isn't going to change that.

Sure, great win, incredible 2nd quarter but if they don't get on with it, it means nothing.

We are in damage control right now and only a 7-2 second half of the season will see us any chance of making finals.

I’ve been of the opinion we need to hit the draft hard and only bring in experience via the free agency route but, if Barass was available I’d love for us to make space to bring him across, I have no faith in Young as a second key defender and we have nothing in reserve if Weitering or Young get injured.

West Coast would definitely want a 1st rounder but I’d say a pock around 15 would be in the ball park.

We can’t just rely on the draft to get back up the ladder next year.

Yup that's about Fisher's pick value but not sure if WC will relinquish it. If not Petucelli as mention earlier Duggan may be another option , Fisher is disgruntled, wants out, hell be of little value to us.

have no idea where this place would be without someone repeatedly stating the bleeding obvious on a daily basis - just in case a nuance of optimism creeps in - we are so blessed.......
