What is the 2015 Carlton Football Club Gameplan? I'm not sure I know but I have an opinion on what it should be based on the cattle we have.
Defensive tactics could include:
Multiple taggers - seems to be part of our current strategy but when the opposition gets a run on we don't seem to be able to close it down nor do we have the ability to stop the outlet handball/throw
Hug the boundary - ball retention or minimise the negative outcome strategy - can work if you win the resulting clearances from throw ins but we don't seem to do it well ie when we win the clearance the disposal is a rushed kick rather than a releasing hand pass
Loose man in Defense - other teams apply successfully to us when we dominate clearance and have a run on - could we apply successfully - if so who? Two required - Simpson or Everitt?
Attacking tactics could include:
Clearances R Us - Tap ruckman ie 206 and we load up on clearance specialists in the middle ie Judd, Gibbs, Cripps and Bell - everyone else who plays on the wings have to be outside, run players with good disposal skills
Talls up Forward - we seem to be trying this at present - might only work if we get clearances and they aren't blind kicks forward - I suggest combine with Clearances R Us not Multiple Taggers
Licence to thrill - this works for others but they tend to have better skills but if I am going to continue watching then I would prefer to see the ball moving at speed out of backline with run and carry. May require some different selections (speedy good ball users) and some different structures - if teams continue to play us man on man then we may need to huddle wide
Mosquito Fleet - we recruited for run and carry this year and have plenty of running HBFs, go with 2 Talls back & forward, utilities as 3rd tall and speed at all cost - we will get hurt by Talls if we lose one to injury but let's run, run, run them off their feet
Everyone has opinions for each game/who should play, but maybe you have an opinion for what Carltons 2015 Game Plan should be known for - if so then Vote or Post.
