Tackles, tackles, tackles.
The big improvers this year are the Doggies - and just about every time I hear one of their young players speaking about their team focus, it's all about tackling.
Considering we're ranked last for disposals so far we should have plenty of opportunities to tackle. And yet there have been so many instances I've seen when an opposition player cuts between two Carlton players, who then proceed to look at each other like they're not sure who was supposed to tackle the guy.
The answer - you can both f***ing tackle the guy!
If we're gonna lose games, so be it, but I want to make the opposition hurt in the process. Get Whiley into the side ASAP, seems like the kinda kid who likes the physical stuff. We know Clem likes to hit blokes, but he's lacking the pace at this point to catch them in the first place, so give him a spell. Boekhorst apparently has the pace for the game, just not the tank, so give him the vest next round and see how he goes. And if Gibbs doesn't have the composure to clear the ball with anything but a blind bomb around the body, give him a mandate to crunch as many blokes as he can at every stoppage - he's got a big frame, time to stop floating around the outside like a seagull.
