remind me?

when he did an interview and decided to bring up the drug saga for no logical reason days before the 150th anniversary game before Carlton (Sheedy takes aim at AFL, supplements saga ‘mismanaged at every level’). Completely unnecessarily from a board member and a prime example of the sort of **** Sheedy does that always made him a bad fit (as shown by today and the Clarkson comments)

(he also relied on incredibly stupid talking points like the drug test one but that's not so much the problem)

Isht it more about him flying in the face of everything spoken about today? (United club moves forward ect) he pretty much popped the hope balloon in one fell swoop
Of course that’s what it was about. Don’t stop a good goalpost shift in mid-move though.

I must've blocked that out lol

But yeah, the brainworms have clearly set in and it's time for him to enjoy what little time he has with his last remaining wits somewhere that isn't this footy club.

I hate that Sheedy’s antics are now really making me dislike him like this, because I grew up knowing no different - grew up loving the guy. Sheedy was our coach, he was Essendon, and as a young kid you think that’s never going to change.

He turned us into the modern powerhouse we were in the 1980s and 1990s, but his time has long passed now and if he continues to snipe away at the edges like this, he is in danger of seriously tarnishing his legacy.

Just please go quietly, Sheeds.

Barhams first week was a disaster, but the results that have followed have been ok. Still not convinced, but a good CEO appointment will help him greatly.
It really wasn't.

Maybe it was communicated poorly, but he was actioning items that would have been questioned if he didn't. Could you imaging that if Clarko was scott free and he wasn't asked to coach EFC, what the football (Essendon) public would have asked.

The delay was the existing boards fault - not Barhams at all. They refused to investigate Clarko because they all wanted to persist with Truck - who was easily manipulated and fit agendas. Barham started the cull by asking questions that everyone knew the answers to... but were pretecting their own arses for,

If there's anything I won't raise as a **** up in this whole drama is Barham putting up his hand and asking questions that everyone else were happy sitting on the same status quo.

Some might say these questioons were 15 years behind where we shoiuld have been.

Ask any supporter who watched us in the 70s know how low we could sink before the glamour 80s and 90s. After that - we were puppets. I see this as the first time we've been out of the shaddow for a long time.

Just need to **** off Sheedy.

Me too. Although I suspect in my case it's selective amnesia with regard to most of the shitty things that happened this year.

I think once Truck was sacked and the ball was rolling at the end of August they've done it right since then. Everything after that I can accept. And before that is the previous administration's **** ups. But the bullshit they spun in the week in between was hot garbage and he said himself he would've done things differently with sacking Rutten (presumably rip the bandaid off earlier):
  • The Clarkson ship had already sailed before the board spill, and the announcement was only held up by an interstate family emergency.
  • The reasons for needing a new coach turned out to be bullshit: 1) the list isn't that far off, 2) Essendon is entitled to be successful and the poor kids haven't ever seen us successful and they deserve it coz Essendon, 3) it's all because Truck is a noob. By comparison, Scott and Mahoney are saying what the previous administration also told us:
    1. That pending the outcome of trade period, we're likely to have the youngest list in the comp in 2023, and that young players are not consistent and can struggle with consistent defending at the start.
    2. That we're not entitled to anything. You have to do the work and work hard. It will take time to build towards success.
    3. As far as Truck being a noob, and a more experienced coach will do better, well we have a change of faces but whether that's the difference is beyond anyone's knowledge at this point (short of a crystal ball to see what the future would have held with Truck). But if Scott is successful overall it's probably immaterial at this point, it only becomes a lightning rod issue if Truck is successful elsewhere while Essendon treads water.
What we have got though is an exorcism, with Rutten and the stability of the football department seemingly the sacrificial lamb in order to achieve that. Viewed pragmatically you can wrap your head around that with relative ease.

OMG I've been looking for that gif for like 10 years. Like literally 10 years, no exaggeration. There's been so many times where I was trying to find the "Mr Burns hasn't died because every germ is trying to get in at once and got jammed" gif and it didn't seem to exist anywhere. And then I couldn't even figure out what episode it was and thought I'd gone nuts and dreamt up the entire thing. Thank you!

The sad thing about today is that these comments will be what people are left with as a lasting memory of Sheedy.

I hope once this is all over he can still be appreciated for everything he has done for the club.

Do you think he actually understands the damage he is doing to the club at the moment? His form recently has been awful. Genuinely undoing all the hard work he has put in over the years and severely tarnishing his legacy. Time to go before he does even more damage…

The first week was a shocker.
If you want to sack the coach then sack him. Do not chase the next coach while you still have one hanging in the breeze. They could have sacked Truck on the Monday. They knew he was not the guy they wanted. You do not let him coach out the week and last game.

Sadly I don't think he does.

Not defending his comments at all. He seems out of touch. It's sad to see the hard work undone and his legacy tarnished.

"The club has to be united ... whatever David Barham does now, he is the chairman. He, at this stage, has to bring the club together ... and, if you don't want to support David Barham, get off because you lost the vote. So don't sit there and nitpick. Not even nitpick, don't sit there and backstab. If you don't want to be there and you don't believe in what they're doing, get out and they'll get people in so that they're on the same page."

- Mark Robinson ... agitating for the likes of Simon Madden to resign in August.

Do these words apply to Kevin Sheedy? Or is the Sheedy/Hird double-standard in effect yet again?
