FWIW my theory is that Clarkson was contacted ages ago and expressed some provisional interest, but also a desire for an external review, knowing that he would need some freedom to influence off field changes if he was to succeed in the role. The pro-Clarkson part of the board finally got the call that said "I'll probably come if you make the place nice for me, but you have to act fast". So they did.

I think they will announce Clarko later in the week with no shame, despite the reiview being barely scoped let alone started. Because it's not a review to decide who will coach. It's a review that the new coach wants in order to crack open some of the back room mess.

I actually think HeppellFreak is full of crap tho. It now looks likely that Clarkson arrives but there is no way the deal was properly done weeks ago. Brasher needed to get rolled and there would have been no certainty until that was done. At best HeppellFreak might have heard that Clarkson was interested and that a faction of the board was super keen and could see a path to make it happen.
