Happy Friday nerds.

Earlier this morning I was dreaming about pies when I was woken up by the postie. Thankfully he delivered pies so it all worked out for the best. He also delivered these...

Tonga Bob would love some in-depth free kick analysis.

Big Spoon ... Little Spoon

Thanks lads, guess it's time to deliver some pies of my own.

  • The Mount Buller earthquake of 2021 has certainly spooked the qumpires, as the Dees have Humpty Dumptied their way off the top of the free kick table thanks to picking up a single draw from their past four rounds. In a twist that only M. Night Shyamalan would use if his cupboard o' twists was empty of anything resembling a twist, the Roys have found their way back on top, albeit on percentage;
  • The Dees join the Wonders and Warriors on the same points as the Roys, with the Furies (who have the highest percentage of all teams) two points behind;
  • To highlight exactly how close things are, a one kick win to the Warriors over the Bears saw them climb three spots from 7th to 4th while despite drawing with the Phoenix, the Furies dropped three spots from 2nd to 5th;
  • The Royals and Swamprats retain the bottom two spots on the table, with the Gumbies within touching distance of the wooden spoon;
  • Speaking of spoons...
s32 r9 spoons.JPG

The top five in the Little Spoon table have been pretty constant of late. Season 31 pacesetter Supersuns still leads the way from plasticine pair GWS Goose & StFly, with Marlowe and Pugsley near enough if good enough.

The Big Spoon ladder on the other hand resembles this:

three stooges syndrome.gif
The lead is shared by another pair of plasticinos in beez & Brick Loosener along with the Royal couple of Fitzey & nahnah. A single kick behind them are ten other miscreants - ant555 Antonio BlueVein Bradesmaen DockerDen5215 fumbler krakouers85 Matera92 Rioli8217 SaintBilly tony

If I get time today I'll bring you the results from round 10. Stay tuned nerds...

We're back, this stunk, you're a nerd and I'm drunk.

We're half way through the catch up, and this post takes us to round ten. Let's see how things have transpired in the exciting world of free kick statistics...

s32 r10.JPG
  • A fourth loss in their past five rounds sees the Demons slip further down the table;
  • The Roys, Wonders & Wazzas all picked up wins to stay on top, while the Royals & Swamprats remain at the foot of the table;
  • In the biggest result since the team formerly known as the Hawks defeated the Swamprats 19 to 5 in round 8 of season 31, the Furies bounced back to form by winning their free kick count against the Dragons by 13 kicks (24-11). This has sent the scaly campaigners down three spots to 10th on the ladder, equal on points with the Phoenix & Bombers who split their free kick count last week to put some distance between themselves & the cellar dwellers;
  • The Warriors are the only team in the top half of the table with a percentage under 100 despite winning twice as many games as they've lost, thanks to five of their six winning margins being 2 or less.
The individual standings look a bit like this:

s32 r10 spoons.JPG

The same five arse kissers are still leading the Little Spoon race. Despite a propensity to strangle himself, Supersuns has increased his lead by one kick. Pugsley has joined his fellow Mobbs Medallist GWS Goose and his teammate StFly in equal second, with Marlowe a further free kick in arrears.

Heh heh heh... "kick in arrears".

On the other side of the ledger, moustachioed Dragon Bradesmaen was able to concede five (5) free kicks last week to shoot to the top of the Big Spoon table. Royal rookie Fitzey conceded three of his own to rise to second on the podium, while Brick Loosener (17), beez fumbler & krakouers85 (16 each) are the best of the rest. Or worst, depending on how you view things.

I've now caught up with the free kick stats! Hooray! That deserves another beer methinks. Until next week nerds...

Nerds, check it out...

...Time For Stats.

s32 r11.JPG
  • A couple of big results saw perennial free kick recipients the Roys enjoy a 21-10 free kick win over the Phoenix to remain on top of the table, while the 'faceless men' seemed to be asleep at the wheel as the Bombers picked up a 15-8 victory over the Warriors to help them break a losing qooty streak;
  • Round 11 also saw the battle of the cellar dwellers. And it was the Royals who prevailed over the Swamprats to leapfrog them into 11th place, however the huge loss that the Phoenix had meant that the Sin Citizens are still a decent win away from 10th;
  • The Demon downward descent deepens, dropping another spot. After winning their first five free kick counts, they have earned a single draw from their last six matches;
  • The Royals have the largest home and away differential of +42 which, in their case, means that they go alright at home but are hated away from the Palace;
  • And in much the same way, the Warriors have the largest differential between qooty victories and defeats (+40). This theoretically says that they are the team whose qooty fortunes most closely matches their free kick fortunes, yet paradoxically they have the highest ladder variation (7). The telling stat here is their overall percentage of 94.29%, which is 8th overall.
And individually?

s32 r11 spoons.JPG

It's the Floggiest Five still leading the Little Spoon. Supersuns added another six frees for to his tally to increase his lead over the pack. Pugsley picked up five of his own to jump to second, one ahead of StFly while Marlowe and GWS Goose round out the top 5.

In the Big Spoon, Bradesmaen retains his slim margin from Fitzey who is another kick ahead of both Brick Loosener & fumbler, who are one further kick ahead of both beez & DockerDen5215.

Enjoy your weekends nerds, and see you next week for another riveting round of free kick analysis & insights.

Nerds?

F*ck you lot then.

  • Roys have overtaken the Furies and now have the highest percentage of all teams, thanks to back-to-back +11 free kick victories;
  • Otherwise the top four have remained the same;
  • The Bombers and Dragons have jumped four places each in the past two weeks;
  • The Demons continue to fall, now down to 8th place after being on top of the table for the first 8 rounds;
  • The other team to drop significantly in recent times are the Bears, down from 3rd in round 6 to 10th in round 12.
And here's the individual rankings:

Let's go back to the mailbag...

Ready to choke again

Im all set up for a prime choke

Let's f*cken gooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

Old mate Supersuns has backed up last season's mammoth choke and dropped a five free kick lead in one week to now tie with Pugsley for the Little Spoon, as the Bombre pup picked up six frees for in round 12. StFly earned four of his own to put a gap of two frees from teammate GWS Goose while Marlowe & TheInjuryFactory are two frees further back.

The big mover in the Big Spoon in round 12 was Swamprat veteran ant555, whose four frees against puts him atop the table alongside Bradesmaen (who donutted) and Fitzey (who conceded a solitary free). In a cramped leaderboard, the group of Bluelegs Brick Loosener hotchilli & SaintBilly are one conceded free kick further behind.

Four rounds to go, and sh*t is getting real. What's even going to happen? Stay tuned nerds, all will be revealed.
