Ding ding nerds.

1697166044239.png

In either the greatest upset of the season or a prime example of simhousery, the bottom-placed Furies defeated the top-placed Bears in round 10 by 17 kicks to 16. It wasn't enough to knock the Las Vegans off the top rung, but their lead was cut to 2 points as the second placed Warriors pipped the Delons. The next four teams though dropped, with the Wonders OOBs & Deez were replaced by the Royals Phoenix & Roys. The Bombers rose by beating the OOFs, the Swamprats dropped by not playing at all and the giant killing Furies continued the five round pattern of swapping spots on the bottom of the table with the Dragons.

1697166774003.png

Here's the other stuff...

1697166827664.png

Senor M still has a substantial lead in the Little Spoon, with the three frees for he picked up seeing him on 42 for the season. That's six ahead of tigs2010 and Bob, T and they are one ahead of Yakker who only got one free. In joint fifth are a couple of high risers on 34 frees, as TheInjuryFactory (five frees) and Zevon (six frees) had handfulls of qumpire lovin'.

Baby faced veteran zackah continues to lead the Big Spoon, conceding three frees to sit on 20 for the season. He's two ahead of RonnieRaven and tigs2010 both of whom are on 18, with the rappin' Bear rising the most thanks to his 4 frees against while the feline gorilla only gave away one. Rounding out the top five are SaintsSeptember (17) and AnUltimateRessie (16), both of whom failed to annoy the qumpires in round 10.

Seeya next week!

oooooOOOOOOooooooo, spooky!

Let's get to the chopper ladder already.

1697774579921.png

A second successive loss sees the Las Vegans Humpty Dumptied off the top of the ladder, going down 10-12 to the bin chickens. This allowed the Warriors to overtake them to now sit upon two summits simultaneously, even though their round 11 encounter with the Gumbies ended up in a draw. I guess one flogging was enough for the plasticinies.

Elsewhere the Monarchists disposed of the Hill People 12-8 to climb to third, the Bombers buried the Wonders in a shallow grave (it was a one-kick margin), the Sin Citizens did away with the Furies, Roy had the week off and the OOFs/Drags stoush was the second of two draws in the round. Those two points picked up by the lizard people [they're both lizard people Bob] fine the ones with wings idk, anyway it wasn't enough for them to rise from the bottom of the ladder.

Now for the other stuff...

1697775278341.png

Senor M is a round closer to taking out the Little Spoon as the 45 frees he's gotten is still six clear of the opposition. He is however yet to be inflicted by the bye so that opens a window of opportunity for the chasing pack, which is led by oldmate who, like Senor, picked up three frees in round 11. Yakker is in third place on 37 thanks to his 2 kicks, while the trio of Frederico_WA TheInjuryFactory & tigs2010 round out our top five a furhter free behind the fisherman.

The Big Spoon leader for round 11 is still zackah who conceded two frees to give him 22, three clear of rappin' RonnieRaven although Ron's played an extra game. tigs2010 had the bye so dropped to third on 18, with SaintsSeptember and AnUltimateRessie hot on his heels in joint fourth place.

That'll do for this week nerds. Until next Friday Prime.

I fully expect a few of the Old Boys to fondle me a little too much this Sunday. If the Furies don't win a SPOON this season, the next best would be this because it shows the sim statistically f*ed us over. Right, James Colorado ?

The sim may not * us over, but I suspect a few of the OOBs are very eager to get nice and physical.

Righto nerds, we're getting to the pointy end of the home and away season and there are both teams and players jostling to reach the pinnacle of their respective free kick competitions. Let's take a butcher's at where things sit at round 12, beginning with the battle for the Silver Whistle.

1698371418506.png

The match between first and last went according to script, with the Warriors doing the Dragons dirty 17-11 to maintain their lead in the Silver Whistle. It was a different story though for the Bears. Having led from rounds seven to ten, they've now had a loss and a draw in the past two to go from first to second and now to fourth place in the last two rounds. And as they have the bye this week they face losing more ground on the leaders this coming week.

The Bears' loss though is the gain of the Royals & Phoenix, as both teams won their round 12 matches against the Bombers (18-16) & the Roys (20-18) respectively to overtake the Las Vegans. Elsewhere the Wonders picked up their first win in three rounds thanks to a 12-7 victory over the Swamprats to jump four spots on the ladder, and the Furies beat the OOFs 13-10 to go level with the bye-having Gumbies (well 0.09% difference but pretty much level) and to put space between them and the bottom placed Drags.

And for the Spoons, well...

1698371448537.png

Senor M has not only maintained but has extended his Little Spoon lead, which now sits at seven kicks. He has a bye this week though so his lead should be whittled back some. The podium is completed by the current & former captain of the Warriors, with oldmate on 43 frees for after getting 4 and TheInjuryFactory on 41 after getting five. Yakker (39) and Frederico_WA (38) round out the top five, with both only receiving two frees last week.

zackah also extended his lead, this time in the Big Spoon as his two conceded frees gets him to 24. He holds a four kick lead over rappin' RonnieRaven while tigs2010 (who dropped out of the Little Spoon leaderboard this week) is a further kick behind on 19. Wrapping up the top five in the Big Spoon is AnUltimateRessie Tarkyn_24 & TheInjuryFactory who are all on 18 frees against.

Three games left nerds, unless you're a Bear who only have two. Who will salute come the end of round 16? Stick around and let's find out together.

It's that time of the week again nerds, as we take a look at what's inside briefcase number 13...

1698979651234.png

Pretty much all of the movement on the ladder happened in the middle in a round where all but one of the teams that won the free kick counts won the qooty match, with one draw. And it was that one exception that allowed the Warriors to remain on top, as the Royals lost to the Roys 12-18 to remain in second place. They Roys are now on 24 points, as are the OOFs whose 14-10 win over the ladder leaders see both them and Roy two wins off the lead with two games left to still have a mathematical chance of winning the Silver Whistle.

Elsewhere the Wonders also beat the Phoenix 14-10 to join the bin chickens in equal third, with a mere 0.28% separating the two. The Bears has the bye which saw them drop a spot to fifth, the Bombers and Dragons drew, the Gumbies beat the Swamprats 17-15 and the Furies beat the Delons by a kick. Those last three results mean that the Gumbies and the Furies are both on 20 points, eight more than the bottom-placed Dragons which means that the race for the wooden spoon is all but sewn up.

In other news...

1698980708121.png

The rest of the Little Spoon leader board had the perfect opportunity to make ground on leader in round 13, as Senor M had the bye week. They however squandered that opportunity, as oldmate (one free for) TheInjuryFactory (two frees for) Yakker (one free for) and Frederico_WA (three frees for) didn't feel the qumpire love. In fact it was Zevon who came from the cluods with a whopping seven frees to jump into the top five, however he may have left his run a bit late.

Kinda similar situation in the Big Spoon, with the top four after round 12 of zackah RonnieRaven tigs2010 and AnUltimateRessie all collecting donuts. This left the WA State of Origin co-captains of Tarkyn_24 & TIF to join rappin' Ronnie in equal second, thanks to the two conceded frees that they... uh... conceded. The four kick buffer that zackah still enjoys may well be enough though to salute at the end of the season.

Stay tuned for what is effectively the penultimate round of matches next week.

This weekend nerds. This is the weekend which decides it all.

Before the final festivities are festivitied, let's look at round 14.

1699756210595.png

The top of the table match of the round extraordinaire at Van Cortlandt Park saw the visiting Royals come away with a 13-11 win in rainy conditions, meaning they overtake the Warriors into top spot on the ladder with one match left. The third placed Phoenix drew with the Bombers, which is enough to keep them within striking distance of winning the Silver Whistle. Losses for both the Wonders (15-20 against the Deez) and the Bears (17-21 against the Dragons) eliminated them from contention. The OOFs have a game in hand of the rest of the competition, but are too far back to make a run.

The other two results had the biggest margins of the round, as the Swamprats hammered the Roys 11-4 and the Gumbies smashed the Furies 17-7. The latter result, along with the Drgaons' upset of the Las Vegans, means that the wooden spoon is still up for grabs. If the Drags win and the Bears lose again, the superior percentage that the scaly birds enjoy will lift them off the bottom of the ladder in a dance that they have shared with the Furies since round 3.

Now for the spoons...

1699758797462.png

It would take a choke of Normanian proportions for Senor M to relinquish his grip on the Little Spoon at this juncture. Despite only receiving two free kicks in round 14, regularly-scheduled simhousery at Docklands means that he managed to extend his lead to 7 kicks over oldmate who was previously in second place. He was overtaken by teammate TheInjuryFactory whose four frees for sees him on 47, which is five off the Las Vegan.

Speaking of chokes, zackah picked quite the game to not annoy the qumpires. His donut keeps him on 24 frees against in the Big Spoon, while RonnieRaven conceded three frees to cut zackah's lead to a single kick, meaning the Las Vegans could very well pull off a spoon quinella. Tarkyn_24 and SaintsSeptember are just two kicks off the lead so cannot be discounted, while AnUltimateRessie & TheInjuryFactory are a kick further back, with the latter having the opportunity to achieve a remarkable Grande Spoon by winning both in the same season!

Technically there's two rounds left, but one of those doesn't actually count for anything let's be honest. I will though report on it because I am a perfectionist and hate leaving anything unfinished.

[pauses for laughter to die down]

Round 15 was The Clayton's Round as philreich would call it. One game happened, a team and a player moved up a respective ladder but have left their runs late. Can't fault them for having the runs though. Wait a minute...

Here's a ladder.

1699759458813.png

The OOFs took an almighty leap up the ladder thanks to their 24-19 free kicking of the Wonders, jumping five spots from ninth to fourth. Given the current Silver Whistle leading Royals are six points ahead of them with one game remaining however, the best the Ophidians can hope for is second place at the end of the home and away season.

Meanwhile the loss consigns the Wonders to a season of mediocrity. Currently sitting sixth, they could theoretically fall as low as eleventh if the Bombers, Delons, Swamprats, Roy & Gumbies all win.

1699760311853.png

As for the Spoons, AnUltimateRessie was the only person on either top five list from last round playing. And the two frees against he conceded sees him jump to second in the Big Spoon, equal with RonnieRaven but one kick behind zackah so a podium finish is the best he can hope for.

In a few hours we'll know who wins the lot. Or more to the point, in a few hours I'll know who wins the lot, then when I get to it I'll tell you. You could of course work it out yourselves, but honestly that smacks of effort and I'm kinda putting myself off doing it. But I will, because I am a perfectionist and hate leaving anything unfinished.

Well nerds the time has come to start spooning! Thanks to Hate and his wonderful repository of statistics called SweetFA+ you would already know who won the Little and Big Spoons for season 36, but I am relying on the apathy & laziness of you all to to take a semblance of suspense into these announcements.

1700184293580.png

Suspense doesn't really come into it for the Little Spoon though, as there was no final round choking going on. Senor M has been leading the race for at least half the season and his four frees for, coupled with the continued simhousery afforded his nearest competitors, sees the masked Las Vegan take out this season's Little Spoon with 56 frees. Ya boi (49 frees) overtook teammate TheInjuryFactory (48 frees) to swap steps on the final podium, while fisher of frees Yakker (46) and trader of Vic's Zevon (45) round out the top five. norway blue (44) was a kick further back in sixth place, Frederico_WA & Ljp86 (41) tied for seventh and finally the top ten was squared away by the trip of ant555 Bradesmaen (a former Big Spoon winner) and two-time former Little Spoon winner Millky95 all of whom finished on 40 frees for.

Congratulations Senor M here's your miniature novelty trophy.

little spoon senor.png

little spoon senor preso.png

The Big Spoon was a much tighter affair. Any one of five people had realistic expectations of taking out the coveted trophy, and as it turned out we did see a choke, as long-time leader zackah managed to concede zero frees for the second week in a row!

I know mate. You bottled it.

Then as you take a look down the leaderboard, things get weird. We know of course that AnUltimateRessie had the bye in round 16 so couldn't progress any further than his 23 frees against, one behind our footy-shape headed leader. That meant joint second placed rappin' RonnieRaven was now in the box seat to take out the Big Spoon. How did he go?

Bomber SaintsSeptember & Hill Person Tarkyn_24 were in joint third place, two conceded free kicks off the lead. A decent dose of qumpire's wrath could propel either person to glory. Let's start with SaintsSeptember

You're kidding! Not one choke but three? Surely Tarks can take advantage of this unprecedented situation right?

NO FREAKING WAY?!?!?

That leaves TheInjuryFactory to concede three frees to tie, or four to win outright. He only got one free for, so maybe the qumps didn't like him? Let's see...

Donuts One :cryv1:

1700185427802.png

Astonishing scenes in the Big Spoon, as the top five in the penultimate round ALL fail to concede a free kick and the only bloke capable of a Hail Mary concedes just one!!!

1700185592112.png

The top ten was rounded out by crazywildhorse & sunny3193 in equal seventh on 21 kicks, and tigs2010 Callums_Guns & sante all in equalt tenth on 20 kicks.

Therefore nerds I present to you zackah as the season 36 Big Spoon winner!!! Congratulations mate, here's your miniature novelty trophy!

Stick around while I get to the major trophy on offer - the Silver Whistle for season 36!
