Looking forward to this game should be a cracker!

Re: Box Hill v Geelong 1.10pm TEAC Oval (Port Melbourne), Date TBC

Knockin the catters out will also have the effect of not giving them an avenue to play players next week in support of their AFL finals campaign.

There is a 12/10 rule that limits the number of AFL listed players to 12 but cant find any info on a minimum games played for eligibility.

Re: Box Hill v Geelong 1.10pm TEAC Oval (Port Melbourne), Date TBC

Well how much games does he need to play in the finals?

7, but there is also an injury clause just to confuse things a bit more (it is why willo might be able to play finals)

Found the same thing on a website:
http://www.northernbullants.com.au/pages/our-club/f.a.q.php
Q. What are the qualifications for A.F.L. players to participate in the V.F.L. final series?

The full answer is long and complicated, but the basic qualification is seven games with the V.F.L. club (senior or reserves). There are a number of exceptions to this rule covering players with long-term injuries with a reduced requirement for V.F.L. participation.

The V.F.L. issues clubs with progressive lists from around round 16 as to which players are eligible or what the requirements are for the player to achieve qualification. Generally most clubs will have anywhere between 16 and 20 players eligible.

There are separate eligibility rules for Reserves matches, but if a V.F.L.’s senior club is involved on the same weekend, there are no restrictions provided the A.F.L. player has met the basic requirement for senior matches (thus the likes of Chris Bryan, Ryan Jackson and Jesse Smith played for the Ants Reserves in last years qualifying final).

There is no restriction (other than the 12-10 rule covered separately) in the first week of the V.F.L. finals, a weekend that corresponds with the last round of the A.F.L. competition.

The other guy might have put you on the wrong path!

Go to Collins Street (just near Southern Cross Station) and catch the 109 Port Melbourne Tram.

Hop off at North Port and head west for two blocks

Game starts at 1.10pm on Sunday.

Re: Box Hill v Geelong 1.10pm TEAC Oval (Port Melbourne), Date TBC

Haven't been to a VFL game since Box Hills GF @ Optus Oval few years back!!

Q: Do HFC members get access or is that only during home and away?

15$ is extremely cheap and reasonable, Why pay over 60$ to attend an AFL Final??

Will probably head down depending on the weather, since its live on TV.

Thought you were a bit harsh on young Whitecross with your comments regarding the clash with the Casey player, both had eyes for the ball only and the Casey player came off second best there was no need to say that Whitecross would get weeks.

Maybe you were a bit biased especially being a Bomber supporter.

But otherwise i thought you did a great commentry on the game.

Re: Box Hill v Geelong 1.10pm TEAC Oval (Port Melbourne), Sunday 6 Sept

I'm assuming Carl Peterson would be a good show to play for the Box Hill seniors this week, given the twos have the week off and we're apparently keen to get 3 quarters into Carl.

Finally get to see Box Hill in the flesh :)

Should be a really good day.

Re: Box Hill v Geelong 1.10pm TEAC Oval (Port Melbourne), Sunday 6 Sept

some of our players that im PRESUMING will be eligible for VFL finals will be dowler, muston, tuck, schoenmakers, mcglynn, shiels, moss, kennedy, renouf, morton, lisle, whitecross, savage, walsh, suckling, stokes, milne, kiel, bruest, sieralowski. of course only 12 can play though. We also have good VFL listed players like kenna, yze, pederson, markovic, curnow, Iles, bello, gibson. will be heading down. cant wait

Re: Box Hill v Geelong 1.10pm TEAC Oval (Port Melbourne), Sunday 6 Sept

I have be informed the following 17 players have qualified to play for Box Hill in the finals. Since a maximum of 12 listed AFL players can make up a VFL team and the reserves are not playing this weekend, five players will miss out. I expect a couple of young players will be rested and a couple of other players will miss due to injury. I think Dewy and Willo qualify because they did not play an AFL game after 1st July (?) due to injury.

Re: Box Hill v Geelong 1.10pm TEAC Oval (Port Melbourne), Sunday 6 Sept

Mitchell Madness posted on the Hawthorn Board "Youd expect that Kennedy would be an automatic selection, but the rest will be interesting. has Dew been training?
Williams playing in one match rather then taking the break says that he will be in this weekend. Tuck? Shiels? Musto?
intersting selections to come"

I agree with Mitchell Madness that selection will be interesting. Significantly BH had a bye in the second last round and need to win 3 knockout finals to play in the GF. In the reserves the finals are played over three weeks with the first and second placed teams earning a rest in week one, two PFs in week two and the GF in week three. This means the reserves will play one game in three weeks thus I would not be surprised if Joel Cross [45 possessions last week] and possibly a couple of other reserves players will be considered for selection this week. It is likely Steve Kenna and Jarryd Morton will return from injury so I think we have a good opportunity to rest a couple of the young players this week.

BH have struggled against teams with mature aged bigger bodied players. Last Sunday we started well before we were slowed down when Bruest, Kiel and Siera received heavy bumps so I expect Joey Kennedy will be a key inclusion. Stuey Dew was training well at HFC last week and Willo's class and composure stood out on Sunday.

The main reason for BH's big improvement this year has been the consistently strong performances of our outstanding VFL listed players like Bello, Curnow, Gibson, Iles, Kenna, McQueen-Misgamble, Markovic, Neil, Pedersen and Yze and the appointment of Brendan Bolton as senior coach. I am looking forward to watching the Hawker Mustangs on Sunday and hopefully over the following three weeks.
