Thursday 9th April VS Werribee at Chirnside Park 4:30pm & 7:15pm (taken from BH website)

Final practice match as both sides have a bye in Round 1 of the VFL season. Any reports would be greatly appreciated.

Fingers crossed re the possible returns of the likes of Walsh, Muston & Peterson. Who knows? Maybe a Lewis or McGlynn?

Now when it says Chirnside Park...I think of the place just before Lilydale in the outer east.

I have a feeling this is Chirnside Park is in the Weeribee Mansion type area?

You jump on the geelong rd freeway, take the Werribe exit and keep going 3km straight and it on your right, oppiste Hungry Jacks. When does the seniors start and how much is entry.

Wouldn't that be great news

I hope Rusty Hawk or someone did attend and can provide a match report. On the Nth Melbourne board they said that Box Hill won by
5 points after earlier leading by as much as 54 points.

This from "Mustang" on the VFL Forums:

"Wandered down to Chirnside Park last night and from a Box Hill viewpoint liked what I saw.
Box Hill went in with only 3 AFL listed players (Beau Dowler, Jordan Lisle, Tim Boyle) while Weribee seemed to have a full compliment of Kangaroos. Box Hill also rested the co-captains (Lukas Markovic and Steve Kenna) and star recruit Adem Yze.
The Mustangs played a sensational brand of football in the first half, leading by 54 points (11 goals to 2) at the main break. At half time the coach made mass changes, with a dozen of the players who starred in the first half told to have a shower while the B-team was brought on with instuctioins to defend the lead. This they managed to do with Box Hill finishing clear winners by a couple of goals.
I liked the look of new Box Hill players like Curnow, Fagan, Iles and George.
Box Hill has certainly strengthened its list and if it can get a reasonable number of AFL listed players regualrly should be improvers."

Would love to know how Beau Dowler went if anyone could comment?

Dowler only played the 1st half of the game but he was outstanding. I only went to the game to see Dowler and I decided to do stats on his game. He lined up on the wing and ended up with 24 touches (16 in the 1st QTR!!!), 5 marks and kicked a goal for the half a game he played. What impressed me about his game were the 1%'s he had. He pushed back and helped out the defence with some impressive spoiling, made an impressive smother and then got a handball out which ended up in a Box Hill goal, he also demanded the ball everytime he was near it. In geneal, he seemed to take charge of the back half of the ground and even showed some hunger for the ball. IMO, he's deserved a senior call up. Very, very impressive!

Wow - we won with only 3 AFL listed players???

Hard to believe, I know. But it was definately him. Dowler seemed like a different man last night. Lets hope he can keep up the good work!

Thanks Rudi & Snake, it was good to receive some reports on the game.

Snake, I was very pleased to read Beau Dowler had One%'s, demanded the ball and showed some hunger for the ball. For the complete package did Beau also put his body on the line and win some hard balls? Also how did you rate the games of Tim Boyle & Jordan Lisle and where did they play?

Great stuff Snake :thumbsu:.

Good stuff Rudi finding the report and posting :thumbsu:

Interesting news about Dowler hey N24....still jumped off the wagon ;). Also interesting only played a half? Late late call up?

I wonder how Boyle and Lisle did?

We all know Dowlers natural game isn't the "in and under" style. But when the time came to put his body on the line he did. A fair chunk of his possessions were uncontested but he also earnt some hard balls gets himself. It was an all round top performance from Dowler.
To be honest, I didn't take too much notice of Boyle and Lisle. I kept my eyes on Dowler for most of the game. From what I saw though, Boyle and Lisle were both solid, without being outstanding. Boyle playing CHB and only playing half a game as well

Really promising news re: Dowler. Hope it gets him a Senior's game next week.

Also, interesting that Boyle is being played at CHB. Sounds like the team or he sees that is his position of opportunity.

I get the impression that Lisle will play out this year in the 2's, he won't press for selection in the 1's until 2010 or 2011

Not yet back on but not far away. Another performance where he DEMANDS the bloody pill, gets involved and puts himself in the contest, and I will be back on board and, if there is not room, there will be ugly scenes as I chuck the Johnny come lateles off the gig. :D

yes very happy to hear that dowler had a great game, i would like to see him get an opportunity, and more importantly take it.

dissapointing that lewis did not go out for a run, he did say rd 3, must not be going as well as thought.

how did boyle and lisle play?

i feel thorp is starting to get confused at the hawks, we need to stick him forward and say you are our 3rd foirward play there, this is yours.

tell dowler he is either a half back (and bulk up) or a wingman, and play there.

boyle; well jury is out

mcglynn: need him to play, he is the fast offensive run we need

Please stay off him. What did I tell you the other day. As soon as you jumped off him he was sure to come good.:p
