Brad Ebert asks to be traded to Port

I can't express how much 'meh' I feel about Ebert. If West Coast thinks a club that for all intents and purposes finished at the bottom of the ladder is going to give up #6 or #28 + #33 for a player that will only ever be second tier they clearly have no idea.

He would be good to get, but not paying overs for him. I don't care where he was drafted. Adam Thomson was drafted in the first round too. What did we get for him again?

I dont understand why Chaplin avoids the critics, I watched him carefully the second half of this year and to be quite blunt he is a very ordinary player. He is a big unit and ALWAYS gets out bodied/marked by blokes not nearly as big as him. He gets cheap kicks on his own and usually takes the easy option, not to mention tells young kids ie o'shea, jacobs, jasper to stand on oposition forwards that are far too strong for them while he "guards space" I would take anything i can get for him! There seems to be a perception out there he is a good player so I would cash in on that. Ebert for Chaplin PLEASE!

Ebert will put his head over the ball which is certainly not what you can say about chaplin. Form can come and go but making a contest, putting your body on the line and your head over the ball should never cease in a players game especially a player of his size.

According to the highly reliable (not) sportsnewsfirst, Port has offered #28 and has not ruled out adding a player to the trade (Motlop)
Puzzling, why are we tying Motlop in? I know this is provocative for some here but I have to ask, is that neccessary or seen as a sweetener? If Motlop had any value surely he is tradeable separately. It adds an extra degree of humiliation to Mots in that I've seen plenty of players not wanted in trades, but I can't think when I've seen a player packaged like a set of K-Tel steak knives.

yeah, only about 80 odd players in the sanfl that can do that regularly. theres obviously more to it than being able to throw yourself into a contest

Or the whole "time wasting-gate" when the coaches called for the stretcher when one of our players (stewart I think) got knocked out, and broke their apparent "momentum".

Needless to say, we won that game

of coarse there is. Skills can improve but soft players will always be soft players. I'd suggest people watch his games a bit closer.

It was Surjan. Who was recorded as getting up after the knock, having a jog then he laid down and the stretcher came out. Was pretty lol worthy.

winning the last game will cost us

could have picked him up in the PSD but now it is roulette with GC having the pick before us

Yeah but it is no lose roulette. West Coast own the chip and if GC win it then we have first dibs on the rest of the uncontracted players that walk to the PSD. And historically the pickings have been good.

I wouldn't do Pearce for Brad + Eagles first >_>

I would put Pearce in our untouchable list for this year and there's no way I'd be including Pearce in a trade for Ebert.

It astounds me that people so keen to get rid of Pearce? At this point, he's our best senior player without a doubt.

Who is keen to get rid of Pearce? 85% of times he's brought up is by external people.

I dont really understand how this situation is any different to Bachar Houli, Cam Bruce, Jack Anthony last year. GC didnt take any of those players dispite N. Ablett being no where near as good as any of those three. You can say it was all a part of getting Gary up there but thats blown to hell by the fact they delisted him this year.

Id PSD him if at all possible and I'd be 100% confident on him being picked up by Port. Unless the player is a genuine star in the PSD, most clubs pass on guys if they are trying to get to a specific club.

Besides, all of GC's young kids would probably be prefered to Ebert if we are perfectly honest. How does he get a game in that team? Unless he is playing forward pocket that is. they have about 8 first round midfielders, Ablett, Risky, Brennen, this years pick 4.

Basically the'd be paying a massive contract for a player who has a lot less potential than any of their current brigade.

Pick 33 + Pettigrew+ Motlop = Ebert

West Coast are not interested in any of our players put up for trade - certainly not Pettigrew or Motlop. On one of the news services, it was mentioned that Freo has shown some interest in Motlop so itcould be 33 and the Motlop trade or pick 28 for Ebert. I would be happy either way. Ebert is a courageous ball getting and hard running player who has played 76 games at 21 years of age. He will be a great aquisition for Port and will go on to play 250 - 300 games. I am really astounded by the negative comments from some of the Port BF posters.

Yeah. Heard on one of the news bulletins that WCE have said they're not interested in any of our list. So unless a 3 way trade can be organized, I think we should stick to our guns and offer only #33. Hopefully WCE will come to their senses.
