How would Josh Hill fit in to a 3 way trade without us having to use pick 33?

Port would receive Ebert, WC would get Hill which leaves the Bulldogs with ?????

think GWS/Cornes/Brogan.

All I know is that if we come out of this trade week with a first round pick that will inevitably be a flanker, a midfielder that can't kick and a ruckman that can't kick, we are ****ed.

so we finished on 3 wins and this off-season

crows lose a super talented chb with shot shoulders, a fringe ruckman, and a young 3rd tall flanker with potential,

bring in a superstar young mid, good lil half back and still have pick 24, 35ish.

port lose picks 33 ( and maybe 28 or newton or surj)

and bring in 2 ok players, and a shot at a highly rated mid if gws doesnt draft them all first.

considering we had the equilivent of such a poor season that the afl normally gives you multiple top 5 picks i dont see how we can really improve off the bottom of the ladder from this off-season. we really need pick 6 to turn into a pendlebury/ ryan griffen and for alot of improvement to come from the list we already have which ild expect some growth but i dont see enough too soon really.

Hopefully we are getting something back between 6 and 51.

Rhode has confirmed 28 & 33 gone.

We keep pick 6 and get a pick back in the 40's.
(West Coast has 45, GWS has 49)
So I guess the haggle now is bulldogs and us over who gets 45 and who gets 49.

Also confirmed GWS and Bulldogs are other players in the trade.

So it would be:

WC:
In: Hill, 28
Out: Ebert 45
Port:
In: Ebert, 45 or 49
Out: 28, Chad/Dean
GWS:
In: Chad/Dean
Out: 49
WB:
In: 45 or 49
Out: Hill

So looks like we either go to draft with 6, 45, 51 or 6, 49, 51.

Renouf was a target but club didn't think they could get him (Hawthorn refusing week(s) ago), so Seaby came up as an option.

I guess its fair to say we don't load up in youngsters this year. (I guess we have a shit load at the moment) and next year we look at the draft with better players available.

If you forget about GWS, the 15 extra picks in the draft etc and just look at the numbers 28 for Ebert is an outstanding result. We would take that every day of the week and twice on Sundays. These trade discussions are screwed around based on what Port (in this case) actually have. It was clearly not going to be 6 so the options were 28 or 33 +/-. If we had picks 23 and 27 WCE fans would be screaming he must be worth 23 and we would be saying nothing more than 27. But just on raw value in a normal draft without all the GWS crap 28 for Ebert is great. In a weaker draft all the more so.

I agree with the sentiment of your post but thats no longer true. Should we have another season as bad as this year then we will receive multiple draft picks in the top 5.

At the end of the day we have the highest selection out of any club besides GWS in the 2011 draft. Some clubs like Collingwood won't have a pick until the 40's. The ramifications of this aren't fully realised for at least 6-7 years.
