News Bradshaw quits the Lions

Wow. All of a sudden Vossy's trading effort is not looking that great. They've effectively replaced Bradshaw with Fev, and lost their best young developing KP forward plus coughed up picked 12.
Hey hey hey........they also got Xav Clarke parrot...........:thumbsu:

Pretty sensible decision from Bradshaw when you think about it. Thanks to Voss, he's already been in touch with the Blues, and knows they'll offer him more $ to play on. If someone gets in before us, he'll be on an even better deal. It's going a bit pear-shaped for the Lions. Fev cost them a lot, plus they also traded their other picks away for a bunch of list cloggers. :)

if you ask me it was a digrace for brisbane to do what they did to bradshaw, they offered up a club champion for someone who was a bit better but a complete fool who showed his previous clubmen little respect, plus they had a proven working big man forward line so it is beyond why they would risk there proven formula

This might actually be news. Incredible.

Trading for Bradshaw was insane but getting him for free is super fantastico.

with losing fev could be hacy to have Bradshaw to fill in the gap he'd could kick a bag most rounds be similar to what fev done until one of kids develos and can play in that possi
similar to if we still had fev and say if he was close to retiring.
Always good to have a player who can fill in the shoes which would have to happen sooner or later eg Essendon losing lloyd and Lucas in the one year .
be interesting to see how bradshaw goes if Carlton drafts him rd 2 would be even more interesting Fev V Carlton & Bradshaw v Brisbane. ;)
It might help Bradshaw having a new club more opportunitys

I'm not sure anyone is seeing him as a gun FF superstar or our saviour ...

Plus in any case our saviour is already at the club :D

Yeah I agree. Not a big fan of getting 30 yo forwards, but he'd only cost a PSD pick, and we have plenty of KP forward talent coming through. One experienced quality forward would be a huge help. Worse case we get 12 months out of him, best case 3-4 years. He's a forward who can play CHB very well also, which might be useful on occasions. Basically a good fit right now. I'd still be surprised if we got him so late in the PSD. :)

I'd be pretty confident we could price the Hawks out of it. :thumbsu:

Burgoyne has pushed there cap to breaking point, and they had to offload McGlynn and Kennedy to make some space.

We have roughly $1 mill free next year if Stevens payments go through this year.

Lol....our cap is nowhere near bursting point...we didn't trade them because of cap issues....with Burgoyne coming in they knew they wouldn't get a regular game...plus Campbell, Boyle & Dew have retired, Williams traded to the don's and Croad to the veterans list....oh and remember when Crawford retired we only replaced him with a kid....so plenty of space in the cap dude!!!

Fair enough. I forgot about Campbell and the others retiring.

BTW as one Josh to another Josh.........interesting to see the complete lack of "outrage" over what your club did to your Josh as opposed to what we did to ours.

At least we got something decent for him......gotta love the "Family Club".:thumbsu:

Didn't you just sign hodge to a new deal that was quite lucrative? And Rioli as well as gibson & burgoyne?

Dew's & Boyle would of been on peanuts wouln't they? Plus you would have a host of stars that would need to be locked away.

If we could lad Bradshaw it could be a massive trade win for Carlton.

I really like Robbo but would much prefer Bradshaw playing in our forward line and being a team player not something that other Carlton forwards are used too.

Just did the math.......we have approx $1 million in the cap next year with Fev and Stevens out of the way.

Confident? :D

Who do you support? You keep refering to Carlton as us and we, yet it says you support Brisbane and have a Brisbane avator? So who the hell is it, make up your mind, you keep posting in Carltons board and saying us, Talk about confussed.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Lets say for example he puts a 500k per year price on his head. And lets say the Blues, Hawks, Sydney, and the Dons were all interested. If Bradshaw said he only wants to play for the Blues, would the other Clubs still cough up $500k per year for a player who doesn't want to play for them? Surely desire to play for the club is a factor here, although technically any Club before us could take him if they met his contractual demands. :)

Who did you want to replace him with  Michael Tuck, John Platten? Older players are generally replaced by kids.

All the players you mentioned would be luck in total to get what Burgoyne will get for a season, you cant keep all you good players and pay them peanuts, you cap must be very tight.

Surely the fact he has already rejected us once would mean we'd be out of the running though?

The midfielder guy rejected us, but Bradshaw didn't apparently. Both needed to agree to get the deal through. Regardless, he knows that he'll definitely get picked up in the PSD, and knows what price he can demand. Wise move from his point of view. A complete disaster for Voss. :)

Spot on mate. What voss and the lions have done to Bradshaw is a disgrace.I have always thought voss is a w***er. Fancy doing that to a mate. Would swapping Bradshaw and fev make that much of a difference? As far as i am concerned they get fev coz they deserve fev.

He wont get to us unless he comes out and says he only wants to be taken by Carlton. He would be snapped up way before us otherwise.

Agree, the Hawks salary cap is VERY tight. Crawford was on the vet list, so his departure didn't impact things. Hodge got a nice big pay boost this year as well. They're also paying Burgyone a bucketload now. :)

He received quite a good offer from the Carlton Football Club which he rejected so we obviously know what the market place is valued at for Daniel.

Bradshaw also rejected us, at least according to his manager.
