Ports gm on trade radio atm.

Said btz and Rat could go to psd.
Said soldo Richmond have the upper hand as contracted.
Sweet will get to port.

But also mentioned might just be a player swap of btz/duursma.

Did anyone else listening interpret that as bombers are the ones asking for more than just duursma….was a quick line but that shocked me to say that unless you’ve offered that.

Seems like we are being outplayed by everyone this trade period so wouldn’t suprise about the Duursma/BZT deal. Think you guys have approached it better talking up how valued BZT is and you want him to stay. All while Davies gets on radio and tells everyone we won’t block Duursma from leaving if he thinks his best football is elsewhere.

My interpretation of Ports GM interview is that they are going to leverage the deadline to get the deals done for the lowest price possible threatening walking Rat and Zerk to the draft.

So would think the deals get done tomorrow. Personally I think it’s pretty solid approach by port.

Neutral view:

Duursma is worth more than BZT. So port have every right to refuse that deal.

Being a neutral just means you don’t watch either player and really have no idea apart from what the media occasionally shows you.

I actually get that… Duursma has a profile, basically due to his rookie season, which was very good, and the bow and arrow. He was a high draft pick and delivered on that.

The issue is he’s done very little since. He played 16 games this year, which is his highest for a few years, gets his 15 touches and really does little of note.

ZT’s trajectory has basically been the opposite. He’s a 195cm key back who played 22 games this year as the #1 defender. He’s really developed in a critical position where there is a shortage of available players. Port have targeted him for a reason, he’s an underrated KPP who has developed and will only be better with some support around him.

In terms of what they’re worth, there’s a clear high value being placed on key backs. There’s not many available.

Personally I would 100% prefer to keep BZT than get Duursma. But he’s gone, he wants out.

Duursma could be a nice pickup, but he’s not going to be as critical to structure as ZT. I think he would’ve thrived in 2024 with McKay around to take the gorillas, and I reckon he’ll do that at Port.

Reckon a straight swap is probably about right.

I guess I’m not a neutral then, according to your definition.

Well said.
It's just rediculous that Port want BZT and extras for Duursma.
Even a straight swap has Port winning the trade.

They've only got themselves to blame for holding this trade up.

“That’ll be one of the things that we contemplate, and I understand that for everyone who just wants deals done that you would look and say that, ‘Players just swapping clubs is the easiest way for it to happen’.

That may end up being the case, but it’s certainly not going to be the case in the next day.”

That's the Port football boss, why would Dodoro do anything but wait after reading that?

2 1st rounders. But the poster is saying if you chase someone you should pay up.
considering two of the first rounders we used that year were guys that can barely get on the park, and the fact we still dont have an A-grade big bodied mid who does his fair share of defensive work, I would take that deal in a heartbeat.

Does Port (as per their GM’s comments today) honestly think Zerk and Rat get to them in the PSD..

So one will make it till their first pick in the teens and the other in the late 20’s?..

What the hell are they smoking over there in Alberton?..

Surely they are talking about the main draft?… not the PSD..

They wont get past north and hawthorn in the PSD..

Rat will probably get grabbed by Clarkson if he went into the main draft.. Clarko would back himself to make it work.

They could use the pick they are offering for Sav to take him in the national draft.... but then what do they do with BZT?

Doubt they could get either through the PSD... but BZT will walk so Essendon lose too.

Duursma has been best 22 since he was drafted. Sure there's been form fluctuations, but he's had 2 significant injuries (with 6 to 12 weeks recovery times) that meant he had to come back through the reserves a couple of times, in recent years. The media seems to forget those when talking about games played, etc.

In the last 7 years there have been 6 total PSD picks, with the most in one year being 2. So not sure what the point is about having PSD picks in the teens and twenties. We'll probably be the only team picking
