Everyone and their blind dog can see that Gale would be the clear choice for the AFL CEO. Eddie Maguire is a Collingwood loyalist first and a footy fan second. When you have him banging on about why Gale would be a good CEO you know how popular he is.

The main reason they want him in a lower role is so they can get a closer look at him and see how he will fit in the "Boys Club". They are worried that if they get anyone with a backbone and conscious then their gravy train is all over.

The whole search for a CEO is absolutely mad anyway. Why are the AFL members now able to vote for the new CEO?

she is an impressive woman with a strong corporate background. the big problem is she'd have a long learning curve on matters big picture football. and it looks like auld might be going. and if i was dillon and missed the job i'd be looking to get out too. two key operatives gone would make the task harder. happy to see b.g stay.

Tokenism/ Wokenism is massive business these days. I'm seeing them pop up left right and center on the big projects. You can pick their brains and within 5 minutes spot 90% are fu@ken clueless but phenomenal manipulators. Those type I stay civil with but tell and teach nothing. Happy to help the ones who got there through hard work and on merit but they're few and far between. It's a farce she was even in the race, but not surprising. Even more surprising is Caro touting Bartel as a replacement for Scott at HQ, lovely bloke but dumb as digsh1t!

Yeah she has a bloody impressive resume no doubt. Little footy experience comparatively though.

It’s her role as ceo of Disney that has the credentials , would prob be a sound candidate and will likely get it . There would be resistance to BG that he comes from a club that is largely self sufficient when 3/4 of the league are on afl drip feed

For the CEO do you really need a “footy” person?
It’s more of a business growth, overseeing and mouthpiece role whos job is to get the right people in the right positions

If she is able to break up the boys club and get better people into footy operations, umpires, ect it wouldn’t be that bad imo

Choosing someone with less of those essential traits for the role and going with someone with footy connections is how we ended up with Demetriou and McLachlan in the first place

Could be a grea circuit breaker to reset the position and get it away from the familiar circles

He’s a sharp young bloke and despite being a bit green for a role like ceo , he’d grow into it , I think RFC would be too bigger gig for where’s he’s at , more likely cut his teeth at a smaller org , he also appears a career man that will rarely let the grass grow before moving onto next challenge , not sure he’s what we’d need to follow BG shoes
