That's because I know my side. Non - Lions fans would just assume that Beams and Christensen are our only additions and have no clue we had a few key players out for most of the year.
I work with a lions supporter and he talks about the Lions almost as much as I talk about Freo.

When I said few as was referring to Beams, Christensen and Rich. Losing Hanley hurts quite a bit though.

I still think my assessement of 10-14 is fair. You will improve and should overtake Collingwood, Carlton. You might overtake Bulldogs, Eagles and depending on ASADA you'll overtake Essendon.

To break into the 8 you'll have to overtake the likes of Gold Coast, Richmond, Adelaide which I just don't see happening.

Need more people like you then. I was referring to comments like "Beams isn't gonna make them any better" that usually come from people that just assume we had it easy and still sucked. When quite the opposite actually happened. :thumbsu:

Their forward line looked shit in the NAB, dunno how they finished on top. McGuane and Staker are spuds, Close is soft freeman injured. McStay looks good
Staker isn't a spud. The guy hasn't played a proper game for almost two years, of course he was going to be rusty during the NAB series.

He was actually quite valuable when he played those games in 2010 and 2013.

Not bad for someone that also played in defence that year.

We will certainly be better than last season no doubt, and looking for 10 wins should be a reasonable pass mark. Finals would be excellent, but considering our development and age bracket there's still a couple seasons until we're genuine contenders. We'll surprise a few but we won't have a Port style surge until we get our forward line in order

I don't think it would be a surprise to see them continue to build. How far that improvement will take them, I don't know. The forward line could be OK; a midfield of that potential quality can make even forwards with the highest of starch content look alright, but the defence might be the weak link. 7th / 8th?

Bit 'outside the square', here, but reckon either Carlton (reckon they did OK with their additions) or Melbourne (need a bit more self-belief) could surprise.

Seeing as though I put them in the 8 and started this thread, I wouldn't bet against that, Einstein.
I don't know if we will make the 8, it will depend on injuries and how we handle those tight games. I also though don't rate West Coast as a finals contender, massive questions over the backline and midfield.

I'm going to stick with the formline and predict that Brisbane finish well down the ladder. Recruiting one or two players isn't going to make up for what is a pretty inept organisation they run up there.

2 years ago I'd agree they were a basket case organization, but I honestly think they have turned things around with Leppa as coach and hiring Gregg Swann as coach..

You don't think natural improvement can come organically from within with their talented bunch of kids they have drafted in the last 3 years? I admit the forward line is a concern, but certainly 10 wins is a feasible target for them in 2015 .

But we aren't just adding two players to our starting 22 from last year. Beams, Rich, Leuenberger, Christensen, Redden and Robinson all will be in the 22 that weren't available last year. Then add to the fact the additional depth will mean we won't be playing 6 teenagers every round like we did last year. I think it's safe to say we won't be as easier beats as we were in the first half of 2014.

Btw, at least we didn't sack our premiership coach after back to back Grand Finals. Then gradually and intentionally pull our premiership team apart:cool::cool:

This is exactly what I was referring to in my previous posts. People that haven't got a clue about our club just run their mouth when they feel. Yet when you question Collingwood's future, everyone is quick to remind you how many key injuries they had last season.

"Another financial basket case, the Brisbane Lions, lost more than $3 million last year and is existing upon a debt of close to $12 million, about half of that attributed to its gaming facility. The AFL ploughed an additional $5 million into the Lions last year and worked to replace its chief executive Malcolm Holmes with the more experienced Greg Swann."

It's a complete fiasco up there imo. Bringing in a few players and a new ceo isn't going to change the culture of a club reliant on the purse of responsibly run clubs and the charity of the AFL to survive. "financial basket case" indeed.

We've been beset by injuries the last few season but have continued to make 8, or just miss out,in spite of that. Brisbane have been useless for near on a decade, I don't suppose you are going to blame injuries for that. A properly run club typically needs only 3-4 years to rebuild, given Brisbane have failed to do that several times now, forgive me for thinking they will stick to form and be generally uncompetitive.

Well, gee, blame Leppa while you're at it. He's only into his second year. Voss was the one that had a failed rebuild after the Fevola saga and the loss of several players to other clubs. We're only now in a proper rebuild stage. Most importantly, Leppitsch has a much better support crew (coaches) around him than what Voss did. Would take a seriously brave man to predict us going backwards.

Our defence isn't as weak as some are making out... Don't know where that has come from.
3rd most points against last year, allowing a score on 51.3% of opposition inside 50s (2nd last) and lost Patful I'd say your defense is weak compared to other teams, Leppa is a defensive minded coach though and you are improving there I'll give you that much.

Your attack is hopeless though, only Melbourne & St Kilda scored less points than you guys last season and you were dead last for scoring per inside 50, can't see that changing much this season

10th at best
