Lets not forget the desperate measures the NRl went to tomprevent
I never copped too much abuse.

Depends on who you run into I guessnor what bars.

The pub I frequent (more like a bloody nightclub now for a nearby uni) is generally not a good place to try watch Aussie Rules. They'll give you a TV for half a game.... but only until one or two people would like to watch some random league game. Even with that, its only one or two wanting to watch it.

Rugby and League lovers not the classiest of people in Brisbane

WHATSAMATTAWITHYOU????

Donchaknow that real men only play NRL, drink a slab of XXXX Bitter before they play, 2 slabs after the game, shout "GO Marones!!!!" and "QUEENSLANDER!!!!" once a day and twice on Sunday, drive around with silly "GO QLD" flags hanging off their 1992 Holden Commodores and can't stand a bar of "GAY-FL"

99% of them only listen to AC/DC or Barnsey.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Which suburb? I used to go into the Valley. The Brunswick wasn't too bad a venue

Holy crap, Im having flashbacks to my last time I attended Caxton St!

Once you give up all your Friday night and Saturday night free to air fixtures, 2 games against Collingwood per year and opening game of the year then no one will mention power or rich in teh same form of Carlton and that will be great.
Plus the thousands of poker machines that Bruce Matheson gifted to Carlton. Turn it up!

The idiots don't understand this simple concept. They want to kill the goose that laid the golden egg, feel happy they killed it and then wonder why there has been a degeneration of their income stream. Some just don't get it.

So, are you claiming that you don't have a clear advantage that you 'only' travel interstate 5 times a season? Nor that your club more than any other is gifted the biggest fixtures on the calendar? Please.

Blatant mass marketing(bordering on misrepresentation) using the "King" for maximum effect.

The irony is that XXXX is not even Australian owned, much less QLD owned.

Burleigh Brewery produces some top notch stuff. Big fan of My Wife's Bitter

Indeed in relation to your comments on Brisbane
Brisbane killed itself . You had 3 flags, there was your legacy, that's what you should have built your market penetration on. It got squandered. Voss was heading back in the right direction........ but.......

Now I wrote earlier in this thread days ago the AFL should take over running the club until it gets back on good terms. I think that would be the prudent thing to do. Make it an environment for players to want to stay. But part of the problem with your recent player exodus stems from those flags in that there wasn't complete fairness in the way players were treated. That's a cancer that eventually gets hold of even the best of clubs. But apparently a few off field issues in terms of player welfare also were part reason.

But now you're at rock bottom, the AFL are looking squarely at the admin, hopefully it transplants some big guns who clean sweep the admin and start dealing with these issues. It might be that on field you will eventually need some assistance, but it's pointless at this stage until they get the administration right otherwise you will still have players come up for a few yrs and bide their time until they can get out. It needs fixing from the inside first.

It also tastes ****ing horrific.
Fuken XXXX and Bundy and Coke ****n siiiiiik ay!!

As a Queenslander who's lived down South for a while, I get a lot of QLD jokes.
I can't complain, though- the stereotypes are scarily accurate. Just look at the state govt...

We play 11 home games, 9 at our home ground. How many do you play at your home ground?

If you don't like the geography of this country, the fact that 11 foundation clubs are based in one region, then I suggest you take that up with whomever founded the clubs within such close proximity over a 100 yrs ago. And when you're finished that futility, then take it up with Brisbane for wanting a club based 2000 Kms away from these 11 clubs. Or, if you want to be part of a national comp, deal with the fact you wanted in and with that comes unavoidable inconveniences.

We get 11 home games. When we get 12, then you have a grievance.

Was sitting in a Geelong pub one arvo watching some footy and some random saw my local footy club hat and asked if I was a Queenslander.

I said yes, and the he apologized that the pub had no XXXX Gold
I used to ask if the XXXX on their hats were lobotomy scars.

And my fave was: I'll speak slower if you think faster and we'll meet half way.

...and as I said How long has Brisbane been in the league now......25 years only now the AFL have just moved to fix up the 2nd tier competition in the Northern states. Why would a young drafted kid want to play in a reserves competition that is way behind an amateur league..hello you might have an answer to go home syndrome..FFS alarm bells should have been ringing when Skase was running the show..its merger with Fitzroy was amateurish and hasn't been equally honored and shafted its Victorian heritage..and now the golden egg laying gooses in Victoria believe everything should be black and white....turn it up.

Don't disagree.

Not saying that the pies are at fault for the geography but it is a clear advantage that you get to play 17 games in Melbourne plus a large amount of big earning fixtures thrown in that a club like mine just simply don't enjoy. The fixture is one of the most unequal parts of this league.
