2016 - Suspected Swans would eat us for breakfast, they had our measure even though we had equally as good H&A.
But for the game to be done and dusted within 15 mins was embarrassing for everyone - players, coaches, club, supporters.
No need to pot anyone specifically, they were ALL shit. Just shit.

2017 - At no point prior to that game did I think we were a real shot, even with a biased eye. Home crowd, we lacked many pieces of the puzzle....such as anyone who could play on Charles Cameron. I fear a repeat of his BOG performance, as it would assuredly be a big Lions win.

2019 - Missed Hawk big time once the inevitable whips cracked. Did we blow it, or Tigers just way too good? I think more the latter.
This was a complete fluffed chance though, I think we would have won the GF if we didn't completely lose our collective minds in the 3rd.

2020 - 1st final was unconvincing but not terrible, last week played out of our skin against tired oppo, it's Brissy's home deck..... and Charles Cameron... and Stanley clearly not 100%..... and Harris Andrews always handles Hawk well.... christ I'm a nervous wreck!!

I am actually less confident tonight than I was before last year's prelim. Under Scott, Geelong is problematic under extreme pressure.

Going to be a nervous day. I have a gender reveal dinner for our first child tonight (was booked well before finals before anyone has a crack!), so I have a decision to make, do I follow it at the dinner, being a complete snob in the process, or go off grid and watch it 'live' when I get home?

Either way, we have a given ourselves a great opportunity to make a Grand Final, we have pretty much a full-strength lineup, something we lacked in last year's PF. Brisbane will be right up for the challenge and we won't get things as easy as we did last week. But bring that form from last week and we will go bloody close.

COME ON CATS, IT'S TIME!
A "gender reveal" dinner!! Is that where you all pull your pants down and show your business? c'mon footy's more important, dinner's can be had again, but this is a PF and winning it will be massive...last time we won a PF? Now that was a happy time.

enjoyed the whole post Turbo, but the quoted resonated most; we've had plenty of experience in not jumping the PF hurdle in recent years, taking that last leap into the unknown would be very exciting - stumble; well ...

Garry Hocking close to the best midfielder I've seen in the hoops; along with the Great Man himself living proof that individuals don't win you (Danger)flags - gotta be 22 contributors.
Exactly right Cursed Cat! You’ve nailed it!

If we lose tonight, it’ll be due to Geelong not playing as a cohesive team. The usual stars will shine, but could want to do it all + not include other players. The usual MIA will disappear.

Tonight, like last week against Collingwood, Geelong must be switched, with every single player contributing.

Kick to Hawkins + bring him out on the lead, to Mark. He’s ideal when he does that. But with Danger playing Forward the scragging of Hawkins is reduced.

If we can exploit turnovers, take possession + move the Ball Forward, we can ensure a good % of our time in our F50 + score.

Lions win most Clearances, when the Ball is on the ground, not from overhead. Their Midfield is relative small + agile. We can impose our physical strength + agility to win Clearances, + wear down Lions. We also have a greater depth with rotations. This depth extends to Blitz roaming the outer edges of stoppages, which gives us the advantage of creating size + space over the Lions. Geelong lead CP p/game 10.4 to Lions 0.7.

Geelong excels at the Kick to Mark part of our game + regularly out Marks opponents. Tonight we need to continue our talent of finding open targets, we lead the League in this. The result of this strategy is by out manoeuvring our oppo they are disadvantaged.

Geelong + Brisbane are first + second in Retained Marks, respectively, with Geelong being quite a way ahead, statistically.

Lions’ pace + spread, along with accurate ball users, allows them maintain long chains of possession.

In our last game, we out Marked Lions 75 to 45, preventing their possession. Lions were only out Marked three times this Season, two were losses to Geelong + the Poos+Wees.

Brisbane scores more Goals from their smaller players + lead the competition. They excel at scoring Goals from F50 stoppages.

While we excel at creating space, Lions excel at getting the ball to tight spots, only their players get to. Our Backs need to be quick + stop Lions’ players escaping them. The advantage to us is that Lions take shots from difficult angles. Our Backs have the advantage of taking Marks + Intercept Marks to prevent Lions from scoring.

I’m really nervous about this game, will our dreadful failing of arrogance + complacency prevail, because we’re playing a less experienced team + because we demolished Collingwood so convincingly last week?

I just want our guys to show respect to Lions, play as a cohesive team, with four quarters of show no mercy, take no prisoners, effort.

When we’re playing our best footy, we can defeat any team.

Yeah they do..... JOEL fu**IN SELWOOD!!!
I follow Geelong closely, my partner is a supporter. Part of me thinks if Geelong win the flag Joel Selwood might pull the pin. 4 flags, 6 million head knocks. One fine player.

i know he’s not the best finals player but I think one of our best match ups in our forwards will be Lester on Rohan
He was threatening to tear it apart against Collingwood last year before getting injured - 3 disposals, 2 marks, 1 goal & 1 tackle in like 1 quarter

It would be interesting to know how he would have gone if he was able to play the whole match and what impact that would have had on the result
